Talking about Fri.'s PHX game has gotten me all nostalgic. So I pose a question: favorite Rox Rivalries! Personnally, during the championship years, I liked what PHX had, Barkley, Marjale?, Hot Rod Williams ( hehehe ), KJ...that was my favorite Rox Rivalry
Yes, that was a great rivalry. Looking back, that 7 game series where the Rockets were down 3-1 was one of the most fun. Who can forget the kiss of death? As far as regular season, I remember hating the Sonics more. Payton, Nate McMillan, Sam Perkins, a non-fat Shawn Kemp. They really had our number for a good stretch. And then there's the Utah Jazz, with Stockton and Malone's various cheapo tactics. They were really tough, but they really matched up poorly against the Rockets.
My favorite was the matchups we had with Dallas in the late 80s. Before SA became a good team, our best rivalry was with Dallas. What an awesome team they had. Harper, Blackman, Aquirre, Tarpley, Donaldson, Perkins, Schrempf, Davis, ......Uwe Blab. We had some wars with them.
Those were the top teams back then, but I have to give it up to the Portland: Strickland, Drexler, Rider, Sabonis. Gave us fits inside and out!
When I think of great rivalries, The first team that comes to mind to Utah, then SA, then Seattle. but outta those what team would you say you hated the most? Most would answer Utah, so I would say given the hate we have for them that would be our best all-time rival!
