Not enough love for the Big E.... If I can't put Hakeem at PF with Moses at C... I'll take the Big E... San Diego/Houston Rockets[edit] Hayes joined the NBA with the San Diego Rockets in 1968 and went on to lead the NBA in scoring with 28.4 points per game, averaged 17.1 rebounds per game, and was named to the NBA All-Rookie Team. Hayes' scoring average is the fifth bestall-time for a rookie, and he remains the last rookie to lead the NBA in scoring average. He scored a career-high 54 points against the Detroit Pistons on November 11 of 1968. In Hayes' second season, he led the NBA in rebounding, becoming the first player other than Bill Russell or Wilt Chamberlain to lead the category since 1957 (Chamberlain was injured during much of the season). In Hayes' third season, 1970–71, he scored a career best 28.7 points per game. In 1971, the Rockets moved to Houston, enabling Hayes to play in the city of his college triumphs.
Yeppers, that was my Ralphie - - a tall drink of 'what-ifs'. CouldaWouldaSholda but a whole buncha didn'ta. In fairness, the young Akeem was not the accountable giant of a teammate and man that Hakeem grew into. Oh, but what talent that young fella had then it matured as did he. And Ralph never wanted to be a be a 4 (or a 5). He wanted to be a 3 (or a 1). Perhaps if I were a giant I'd understand better.
Robert Horry Robert Horry Robert Horry Robert Horry Robert Horry But if I had to spread it out: Olajuwon Horry McGrady Harden Murphy
Best Players C Malone PF Hakeem SF T-Mac SG Drexler PG Harden Best Possible Team C Hakeem PF Horry SF T-Mac SG Harden PG Beverly Bev and Horry certainly aren't the best players, but I think Beard, Mac and Dream are more than enough offense. Need some 3 and D. Could probably replace T-Mac with Elie.
Rockets Best Ever C: Dream - Moses - Yao PF: Big E - Sampson - Horry SF: Artest - Battier - Rudy SG: Drexler - McGrady - Mad Max PG: Beard - Calvin - Sam I Am Honorable Mentions: OT, Barkley, Dwight, Kenny, Reid, Lucas, Splash
Depends on if we're taking the players at their career prime or in their Rockets prime Career prime: Harden Drexler T-mac Malone Hakeem Rockets prime: Murphy Harden T-mac Malone Hakeem Just for fun: Nostalgia 5 Matt Maloney Eldridge Recasner Eddie Johnson Charles Jones Pete Chilcutt Pippen to me isn't capable of leading a team, and I consider T-mac better in that respect. But I also do think that Pippen belongs in the Hall of Fame while T-mac does not, due to playoff success. Also, I think Moses Malone had a better career than Barkley overall.
Elvin was only a HOUSTON Rocket for 82 games so I rarely include him just like I don't include George Mikan in LA Lakers greats talk. I get it. San Diego were the Rockets and it's part of our franchise but it's not part of our city history. I'm a Houston Rockets fan, not a San Diego Rockets fan.
Big E played the Rockets first season in Houston and last three seasons in Houston. 320+ games as Houston Rocket . 572 games for the San Diego/ Houston Rockets. 731 games for the Washington / Baltimore franchise. BTW there were quite of a few Houstonians who became San Diego Rockets fans when the Big E got drafted there.
A lot of TMax love.... Anyone remember that Drexler kid? Hakeem Mo'fo fo fo' Malone Drexler Harden Murphy You gotta have Horry and Cassell off the bench with Chucky, Hayes and then Rudy T and Mad Max for the heart.
I think I puked just a little when I read this. Center - Hakeem PF - Elvin Hayes SF - Clyde Drexler SG - TMac PG - Harden There you go.
