Hip-hop isn't bad these days, it's just too commercialized and too mainstream. There's a reason for that, and that is you make a lot more money when you cater your music more so to the casual fans who're more pop than hardcore rap types. The key here is almost always having a nice, catchy beat much more so than great lyrics or even delivery. 50 Cent is the poster-child of that along with most rappers today. To his credit, 50 Cent probably has some of the greatest beats that've ever graced hip-hop with Dre and Em producing tons of stuff for him and G-Unit. Fiddy makes 'club' type music, and that's why EVERYONE, and not just a small demographic of people, buys his music and he's easily the top selling and money-making artist out there today, not to mention that he's branching into designer cloth like Jay-Z and PDiddy have with their "Sean John" and "Rocawear" brands.
