And I'll throw in LaTroy Hawkins. I have seriously never seen a guy hit into more bad luck than Huff did his first month or so with the Stros. Every ripped ball was either at someone or just foul, it was noticeably strange. Everyone thought Vinny was done, but he was a great 3B here. He was shockingly agile to me, was great coming in and bearhanding, was really quick to his right as well. I really didn't know how good his glove was until I watched him everyday, I assumed he was just another all-bat Colorado roid boy, like my good friend Dante Bichette. LaTroy Hawkins was 35 or so and had sucked, really sucked, all year and then he came to the Stros and magically turned into the best reliever in the NL. This is why I will never underestimate or overestimate or any kind of estimate, really, veteran relievers. What a crapshoot.
that was a ton of fun. Always loved Cangey and how he put his whole body into throws home In that video: Moises years before he became an Astro. Matt Galante sighting. Young Terry Collins. Reynolds/Hampton/DK. Gutierrez/Spiers/Berry on the left side. Oh Henry! Dave Segui. Derrick May sighting possibly, or did I mistake someone else for him? Didn't get a jersey view. Brian Hunter. So many others.. that was fun
Mo was the guy who spiked his helmet into Terry Collins's face. Still one of my favorite Astro hitters to watch, ever. Nice call, totally underrated guy. Tuffy did hit 464 HRs in Japan.
He was so good and fun in 86...Coneheads...then he Kerfelded himself http://articles.latimes.com/1987-07-12/sports/sp-3492_1_charlie-kerfeld
