That's fair, but he's also slugging .558 - no one in our lineup is slugging even at 0.400 Ensberg, Lane, Berkman, and Biggio (and Palmerio and Bruntlett) are all slugging well over 0.400. Only Ensberg, though, is over 0.500.
Brandon Duckworth is slugging .583 in AAA. Dude slugged 1.000 with us this year. Call him up, put him in the outfield!

And just so there is no confusion with the new version of the board, the reply button at the top right of each post is the same as the automatic quote button from the old version. Back on topic- I would love to get Dunn. I would also like to do it without giving up Burke, but if the Reds say we won't do a deal unless Burke is included then i would ship him out.
My two cents on the fantasy scenario ... I think I'd still do it, but while Dunn has a powerful stroke, he certainly whiffs a lot and isn't a very good hitter for average. I don't see where there is room for Lane if we get Dunn, so he and Astacio are no big loss, in my opinion. If they are still high on Burke, I'd like to keep him given that (it seems) middle infield prospects don't come around every day.
Dunn is much better than Lane, and younger. I would hate to give up Burke, and disagree about Bruntlett (he's not young, and he sucks), but would probably be willing to give up a promising top of the order guy for a promising middle of the order guy. Adam Dunn is a pretty rare commodity.
The Reds have pubicly stated that if they are active in the trade market that they will go after pitching. I would offer Astacio & Buchholz, and any of our other pitching prospects except for Troy Patton.
I would add Fernando Nieve to the "exception" list.... at least till we see what he can do in the big leagues. Also, I'm a little weary of trading Astacio. He is a little older, but that's just because he wasn't used much at ages 21 and 22 when the Phillies first brought him over, and thus he didn't have time to develop his arm. Now that he has, its got plenty of life in it even though he's 26 (thus, that's why he throws at 97 with no effort). When he first came up here, he looked alright... then the league made adjustments... and he didn't. Now, he's worked on some of that at AAA and put up spectacular numbers. That doesn't mean anything because he could just simply be in that AAAA pitcher syndrome we all know to well... but it also could mean that his adjustments may be worth taking another look at. And, worst comes to worse, he could be a very valuable arm in the bullpen (which currently consists of Qualls, Wheeler, and Lidge... that is it).
IMO, give them Burke and Zeke. Hell, Lamb can learn to play 2B if necessary...not to mention its a lot easier (cheaper) to pick up util guys who can play 2B in the offseason then it is to pick up corner OF's who can hit. I'd hate to see Lane go in that deal.

I agree. I'd rather trade Burke than Lane. First off, Biggio looks like he wants to play a few more years, and based on his performance this year, I'm guessing the Astros will keep him. Burke will either become a converted outfielder or languish in the minors for 2 more years, becoming another Lane. Lane was projected to be a star, but always was behind the lines of Berkman, Alou, Ward, Beltran, Hidalgo, Biggio, etc - either star veterans or other projected star prospects. I'm more interested in seeing if Lane can be a power guy than if Burke can be another leadoff type guy. With Everett and Taveras, we have enough of the top-of-the-order guys in the lineup. Having a middle of the lineup with Berkman, Ensberg, Dunn, and Lane would be nice. Right now, having freaking Adam Everett as our 6 hitter is just sad.
NJ- You don't remember the game Lamb played 2nd last year? That was an adventure. I think Garner or Jimy had some memorable quotes on it.
I actually thought he played more than once there....but regardless, Viz, Bruntlett or an offseason util guy like a Womack is easier to find than a guy like Adam Dunn
I wonder if we throw in another AA pitcher if we could get Pena from the Reds too? Getting Dunn and Pena would make our offense loaded.
If Adam Dunn comes to Houston, I think he will have even better numbers even though there will be pressure on him. Astros could afford to give up Zeke, since they are LOADED with some good young pitchers throughout their system. Jason Lane would be replaced by Dunn so he doesn't matter. Burke is going be good ball player but I think they could afford to lose him since it looks like Brunlett could be a decent player. They also have a guy by the name of Johnny Ash is Salem and he is a very good player. He gots some pop and he has more walks than strikeouts. He may be 2-3 years away. You may remeber him from when he played at Stanford and hit a game winning homerun to win a game in the College World Series.
