Yao Ming. He's good. But good enough to be a leader? Not quite yet. He's not athletic enough to be THAT man. And my sorrows go out to him as his desire for victory is genuine. However, don't be disalarmed; we do have someone who can be THAT guy. His name is Tracy McGrady. After barely getting by and seemingly settling after the first 2 games of the series, he has yet to be seen. "We won't shoot this horrendously for 3 games, scratch that, 4 games in a row". Dare we say it might extend to 5?

It very well could, as the Rockets are losing ground fast and the Jazz are making up that very same ground faster. This is probably due to the fact that the Rockets and Jazz are playing each other in the same series. But from what I've seen, this coincidence is from a difference in Heart and Drive. Anyone who has ever won has possessed these traits. Coupled with a strong drive, dedication, humility, and determination, winners are just that--winners. They are very hard to stop once they get started, and they hardly seem nonchalant. They're emotional--not politically correct. They're driven by actions--not words. They provide positive energy when things are going bad--not bad body language.

Have we seen this yet from the Rockets? And will we ever? This question can only be answered by the sole player the Rockets can depend on. Tracy McGrady. Where are you? Until you show up, as hard as it is for a Rocket's fan to say, the 2006-2007 Houston Rockets are hereby, and absolutely tentative and waiting for adversity, crowned the following:

Choke City II: The Heartless Drive

Please, for me and for the city of Houston, convert our sorrow into joy as the Rockets of 1993-94 had done when put in a similar position.

Prediction: This will be a classic moment thread after the Rockets beat the Jazz and move onto the second round. May even pass the second round to reach the WCF. This thread will then be bumped twenty times because of the thread starter's foolish knee jerk reaction.

That's what I'm hoping for. Please read the tentative disclaimer I tagged on before the coined phrase. I'm with you man, believe me.

I am sure Dwang boy won't care if this thread gets bumped each time we advance... if we advance that is.

Dwangboy obviously doesn't remember the circumstances surrounding the original christening of "Choke City".

If he did, he wouldn't compare this to that.

Oh btw ...series is tied 2-2 and we still hold HCA for the last 3 games.

eh.. maybe not exactly, but is there really more than one way to choke?

I was 8, but i remember the knicks series well.

Whatever. We keep expecting T-mac to break out of this shell and be this leader or best player or whatever. I'm starting to wonder if he's capable. We're 4 games into the series, and he's yet to show it w/ the expection of 1 half where his shots were falling.

Huh? I don't see any choking going on.

We won two on our homecourt. The Jazz have done the same. Two excellent teams have defended their advantage.

It's 2-2, yet alot of Rocket fans are proclaiming the Jazz as the ones "with heart" and that the Rockets are "choking". These same fans don't mention about the Jazz "choking" in games 1 & 2 or how the Rockets had "heart" to come back and win both.

you haven't? only 4 players scoring? no t-mac for the last 2 games when we have a chance to put them away up 2-0 with all the confidence??? come on man. don't be in denial. the jazz are newer to playoffs than us, and we let our chance slip.

to me, that's choking. see it how you want.

I see it how it is. A best of 7 series, tied 2-2, with 3 games left, with the Rockets STILL holding HCA.

I see neither team playing great basketball, but each have played good enough to win 2 games each on their homecourt.

If anyone has choked, its been the Jazz. They could have won Games 1 and Game 2, but they showed no heart in the 3rd Quarter of those games and couldn't hold leads.

Guys, i'm not over-reacting. I'm posting opinions and well-thought out arguments. this board is very much like t-mac and the rockets. we can come together in the time of adversity and realize that the Rockets and T-mac, more importantly, aren't playing up to par.

    OR

we can sit here and say good things about t-mac all day long, making everyone feel guilty, while making yourselves feel good about the Rocket's chances.

Well i'm here to say i've been there in 04-05 and seen what can happen to our team up 2-0. I'm saying you WILL agree with me if we lose.

don't get me wrong, i love the rockets and think they will pull it out as well, but i'm just pointing out the counter-point. there always is one. so let's come together and root in reality, as opposed to rooting like t-mac, saying only optimistic things.

point taken, but notice how much less talented we are when t-mac isn't producing. doesn't that worry you? and notice how t-mac has played in a nonchalant manner the last 2 games.. doesn't that worry you?

    We're gonna win game 5.

TMac is gonna have a huge game and prove that he isn't really the player we saw in Game 4

I see where you guys are coming from though, and maybe I should blame T-mac's salary.

and when Rafer, Battier, Head and Howard aren't producing.

Right now, the Jazz have no fear in sending players at T-Mac because our supporting cast is not making them pay. Not even close.

If those guys can't hit the open shots off the attention that Yao and T-Mac garner, then both will only be so effective, especially T-Mac since he is being pushed out to halfcourt off the PNR double teams.

You seriously don't understand the concept of choking in sports.
