People wanted to see Yao play 40 minutes, get 35 points and be MVP, all while hitting on 3-point shots, 180 spin dunks, behind the back dribbles against Lebron on the fast break, waving off Kobe on the wing to take it past KG himself, etc.

Yao probably can win the All-star game MVP one day, maybe next year. He just needs to condition better... and get healthy to play in this game.

If he gets healthy after this season, then he probably will get more minutes in the all-star game, only reason why he didn't is because he didn't want to get injuries. That's why he had limited minutes.

Duncan won an ASG MVP once, I don't see how Yao can't.

No, Yao is just not athletic enough. When Duncan won he was more athletic than he is now, which is still much much more athletic than Yao. Even with lazy D from the Dwight-KG-Lebron front court its tough for Yao to get in and score quickly.

No, not really. Duncan was never athletic, that's exactly what makes him so great. His skill was what makes him so great, Yao has just as much skills as Duncan, Duncan is just much better conditioned. To add to that, Yao is very athletic for his size.

Umm...sure, Yao is just as athletic as Duncan. Duncan was never a great athlete but he has always been much better than Yao in that regard. There are plenty of times where he pump fakes the mid-range jumper and takes his man to the rack. He actually used to be able to play the 4.

Yao is possibly the least athletic player to ever play on such a high level. There are some things he can do. Running, finishing quickly and consistently around the basket without having plays called for him is just something he can not do.

...and that athletic for his size thing is completely irrelevant to...well...anything.

That's just ridiculous. They are completely different players. Duncan is versatile enough to play two different positions. His skill set is very different, and frankly clearly superior, to Yao's.

    +1.

I luv Yao but let's get real. Duncan is way more coordinated than Yao. Yao in the low-post looks he's going through rehearsed dance moves. Duncan is noticeably quicker to anyone with an unbiased eye.

MOST of the United States--and I am including all the NBA players and the REFs--do not like Yao. It would seem fitting that they would not pass it to Yao or even call a foul on him when he didn't commit it.

It's fitting that even the press doesn't cover him being the ONLY Chinese player in there along with Pau Gasol being the only Spaniard and Nowitzky being the on... OMG, did I just do that...? :(

Lol this was funny I'm sorry but I had to laugh. If you really think that Yao can win MVP at the All-Star game then you must be smoking some powerful stuff :D.
If McGrady couldn't win the All-star mvp when it was here in houston and mind me he is more suitable in that game than Yao what makes you think Yao is going to win it at another area. McGrady couldn't even do it here in Houston. Thanks to Shawn Marion  or was it Kobe?? I know someone out of them 2 messed up.

Let's be real, Yao just isn't suited for exhibition games, he doesn't have the coordination or athleticism for it. Not that he doesn't deserve it, but I don't think he should be playing at all in the All-Star game, he kinda takes away from the fun of it.
