    Simply put:

Lakers are 24-5 when Gasol plays.
They are 10-7 when Gasol does not play.

Gasol is second on the team in minutes played per game.

Gasol is third in the league amongst PFs/Cs in PER.

Gasol is rightly considered one of the top 5 big men in this league. Even if he's missed 1/3 of the games, he's done enough this season to be considered an all-star. Far less deserving players have been included over the years.

I think appropriate credit should be given to really good players who have been significant contributors on really good teams. The coaches have a pretty good feel for that when they make their selections. Better than most fans.

David Lee certainly need some love. And too bad AB and Landry can't sneak in. Really happy that Boozer/west does not make it.

    David Lee >>> Al Horford

Too bad the league mainly looks at record instead of numbers. You can look at both, but record is going to win.

Al Horford making the squad is a joke and I say this as a Hawks fan.

Wow, How did Pierce make it? What a joke, he's not more deserving than J-Smoove. I don't want to talk down on Horford, but all I will tell you is Lee was more deserving. Pierce over J-Smoove = the time Drake got shot in Degrassi which = Pure Fail.

    My only complaints are

    1) Pau Gasol missed 20 games already, he did not play enough to earn a spot

    2) Iverson and KG starting in the east is laughable to say the least. It is up to the fans so I don't have a problem with it but neither of these guys should have even sniffed the team.

Same story different year. Nobody is EVER going to be completely satisfied with the All Star selections whether you're a fan, coach, manager, owner, teammate, player what have you. Every year there's going to be a couple players starting that are debatable along with a few possible snubs. I never understood all the complaints and getting worked up over a rather meaningless game. It is what it is.

Who would have thunk it? Randolph's game "blew up," surprising pretty much everyone, and he's been consistent. He's turned that team around by himself. Do wonders never cease? (I have a whole sack of clichés, lol!) It's a pity that the fans are still staying at home.

Can still stand to have some understood standard for games played or missed. Make it generous even, something like a player must play in at least 15 games or so. Yao Ming could have come back in December and the Rockets went 15-0 with him until the All Star break. I myself wouldnt have put him in over Zach Randolph cuz he'd just be a 1/4 season All Star.

I know you can say what if Yao scored 40 points a game in that stretch, just going to let him stay home? Tough one, but why not give guys who've been with their team start to finish a shot
