I loved what our guys did. Was anyone else surprised that Yao missed as many shots as the box recorded? I thought he was hitting everything but three's and one up and under...oh, well, still a great showing. What was better was that the reason Yao had a good showing was Steve, who made no bones about going to Yao early and often. Absolutely great sign for the future. For him to do that in the ASG betoken great things for what he'll do with the Rockets. Carter was screwed, Yao should have played more, but that's just for ego. For the future, all my guys played, well, got pretty good rest, and left the game hale. ( Actually Carter getting screwed might actually have been for his sake. Who in the world would least like to see Carter get heavy minutes at the ASG? His coach...who just happens to be Carlisle's best firend...)
I think this is the best result for the Rockets duo, good performance, decent minutes, taking care of each other, and didn't play too much. The most important thing is both of them showed they belong, and come back injury-free. Amen! --daoshi
as a rox fan, it was strange seeing a game so free of D. at least the transition to the playoff style grind won't be so traumatizing spring break is over! back to class
yeah I would have loved to see a lil more defense but overall a fun game to watch. I think SF3 and Yao represented our team well.. I was happy for them.. I think TNT did a crappy job following the ball with the camera. J
Absolutely, Great game from Steve and Yao tonight. They both showed the world that they deserved their starting bids. Go Rockets!!
I actually saw the SF3 dunk right before a commercial break where they had their little highlight clips scrolling on the screen and that dunk was HYPE. He was sideways in the air and threw it down BIGTIME. Damn I wish I could've seen it in real time or at least a full replay.
Yao did very well. I liked his hook shot. He is shooting it with a lot of confidence and his turnaround J is looking good too. It was fun seeing Steve and him combining well which will be very important for us in the future. I was proud to see the R on the back of their uniforms. It really looked cool.
me too. HE was literally side ways, with a 20 degree angle to the ground!!!!!!! Thats why marv albert was yelling out "STEVE FRANCIS!!!!" so fanaticly.
This is one reason i hate O'neal. He's just have a bad attitude and too much ego. Look at his quote after the game....it's as if he has something against Yao even though they didn't even go at each other. ------------------------- O'Neal shot 12-of-19 while playing 24 minutes in relief of Houston's Yao Ming, who was pretty good himself with 16 points in 19 minutes. Yao started at center for the West after edging O'Neal in fan balloting. "It didn't really inspire me," O'Neal said of Yao's fast start. "He hit some shots. But I knew that if I could get it going and do what I do, I knew that I was going to be fine. "Luckily, things worked out in my favor." ------------------------------------- What does he mean that he's going to be fine?? Oh boy this guy is really making an effort to play great just so he can top Yao stats...what an ass. Why didn't he show it when they're playing against each other. But to show it at an ASG??? C'mon. This is the game where ur supposed to be free and at the same time show ur talents...not to be so intense like you have something to prove. First of all, if he didn't get that many minutes over Yao, he ain't going to get no MVP and 2nd of all, he turns the ball over too much along with Kobe. These are the reasons the West are behind, cuz they turnover the ball, both of them combined for 10 turnovers cuz they were trying too hard to get the MVP, what an ass!! I am happy that Yao and Steve play great and prove they deserved the spots though.
I think shaq is just trying to put on a good show for the hometown fans. Even though many of you guys hate him he just loves to play the game and entertain the fans. This was also reinterated by the announcers. I actually liked it how he would sometimes dribble the ball for his fast break points. Wouldnt you guys find it funny and entertaining if yao grabed a rebounded and ran away for a breakaway dunk?
My gripes about the All-Star weekend: 1) Too much Lebron and Carmelo Anthony ass-kissing 2) Too much "Bad apple" commercials 3) Putting idiotic NBA players in the celebrity game who ball-hog and swat people a foot shorter than them and dunk over them like it's actually a real game. 4) Too much Lebron and Carmelo Anthony ass-kissing 5) Too many stupid interviews with every celebrity sitting on the sidelines and asking the same question "What do you think of Lebron?" 6) An idiotic 989 Skills challenge that is based on who can make the shot on the first try= winner and that person ended up not having any sleep in 2 days, went first, looked to be sleepwalking bewteen the cones and still won. 7) Slam dunk competition with no-name talent (except J-Rich) and racist judges whom half of them never dunked in their life and the contest ending in 32043209 retries and missed dunks and awarding a winner by default even though the last two finalists missed their dunks 8) Rookie game which consisted of zero defense and first and second year players who think they're stars (except a handful who were legit) 9) Stupid 3-point shooting contest with only 5 people in it and only 2 rounds. 10) Stupid slam dunk contest wiht only 4 people in it and 2 rounds which is supposed to be the main event of that night 11) All-Star game where the leading vote getter plays 16 minutes and the hometown boy plays 36 minute and everyone else gets around 15-20min and the MVP is already predetermined before the game 12) Too much Lebron and Carmelo Ass kissing 13) TNT camera crew who would rather show slideshows of stupid NBA history trivia like "leading vote getter in all-star game history" than show dunks in progress late in the fourth quarter 14) All the missed dunks and plays that were missed because of stupid interviews or showing people in the crowd 15) All the Shaq and Kobe ass kissing 16) Too much Magic Johnson stuttering 17) Too much California-schlong-stroking 18) Too much Arnold camera time
Shaq was doing his "wannabe fast break" anytime he got the rebound in the first half. Once or twice is fine and dandy, but it was looking like desperation how bad he was trying to get MVP. Same with Kobe as well.
That alleyoop from Yao to Steve could be used in regular games. I'm not sure if anyone can stop that play if Steve is just running at the basket without the ball and Yao just tosses it up for him to catch and dunk.
19) MVP awards meant nothing. Amare Stoudamire broke the MVP rookie game record by getting uncontested dunks and ball-hogging. Fred Jones wins the slam dunk contest just because J-Rich wanted to not take the easy way out and just dunk a regular dunk to win it. Shaq wins the MVP because he was a ball-hog and it was already predetermined that he was going to win it. The only contest winner who actually earned it was Voshon Lenard and Baron Davis, even though the 989 challenge is a joke.
Miller Leaves With Injury in West Victory ... from http://www.nba.com/kings/ This is a really funny story. Maybe he should not even go to all star game.
He...he.... If Yao shaves his head, then he should put those six parallel white dots on his head like a Shaolin Monk. That would really scare the opposition away!
