This was the best All-Star game I've seen in recent years. Very high scoring, lots of high flying, and it went into double overtime. I loved it when Jamie Foxx got the ball and ran down court like he was in the game, and watching Shaq try to tear down the goal with every dunk. Personally, I wanted Jordan to hit that shot over Kobe. All in all, I think it was a great game.
Is it me, or did it seem that the everyone except for a couple players were out late the previous night partying a little to hard? I don't know, I just was bored with the game.
I respect him for giving up what only a few of us could. His pride. He didn't let that stand in the way of what everyone wanted (except maybe Jordan). So by gutting his decision he showed me more character than by standing by it. In the end what did it matter. That's why it was the right decision. There was nothing at stake here. It's like not letting a little kid beat you because you want to uphold the integrity of the game. Not. You let the little kid win because everybody feels good. And everyone is better for it. The only time you should make an unpopular stand is when the end result improves something. Nothing would have been gained by standing his ground.
I think Jordan finally gave in to accepting the offer out of pity. Vince was getting a ton of heat from the fans and players. Jordan did him a favor. You could tell how happy Carter was when Michael finally accepted.
I agree. This whole thing got blown so far out of proportion as to become absurd. The fans made their decision who should start and then the players and media completely disrespected the fans by conspiring to overturn that decision. I personally don't agree with the choice of Carter as a starter and felt the fans were morons for voting him in in the first place. However, it was the fans' choice and it should have stood. This campaign to force Jordan into the starting lineup was ridiculous. The media hype, the halftime show, the players all wearing his shoes... there was plenty of Jordan recognition going on - the guy got more than enough respect for his 3rd retirement. Oh, and the reason Yao only got 17 minutes is because he wasn't doing anything on the floor. I love the guy and felt like he could have made an impact in the game but he wasn't asserting himself. I would have liked to see him get a little time in the 2OT, though, because that was like bonus time. He'll get more opportunities in the future, I'm sure.
I can't believe the way Isiah treated Vince...too few minutes down the strech, then he throws VC out to guard 7 foot KG in double overtime. How stupid was that? Was he trying to embarass Vince? Because that's what it looked like. I hope Zeke never gets to coach an all-star team again, cause he sucks at it.
