I hope you don't use "we" to refer to any of your favorite professional teams, considering, you know, you didn't "go" to the Rockets.

I'm sorry, I just got clued into this whole UTSA scandal.

You're like UT's version of jasonemilio.

And no, that isn't a compliment.

Smokey sent his scouting tapes to the Rockets.

He was set for a tryout til someone realized it was just vid-capped footage from NBA Jam Tournament Edition '98.

First, apples and oranges. There aren't institutions associated with professional teams, but rather cities. So, no, I couldn't "go" to the Rockets, but yes, I live in Houston of the you know "Houston" Rockets.

Second, you don't know the history of this poster. He is known for coming into UH threads and bashing Keenum and the Coogs. When he is told to leave, he pulls out the UH student card to defend himself. So excuse me for LMAO when he uses "we" to refer to "his" Longhorns...excuse me for pulling out the Texas Ex card and making fun of this UT reject troll.

When I asked for insights, I didn't say you could flat out say that Aggies can win in a high-scoring game :p

The way you put it, it seems like this game is a battle of two unbeatens.

thank you for answering your question on your own and proving the fact that:
    College team != professional team.

You cheer for YOUR college team
You cheer for your "favorite" professional franchise, preferably your hometown team or one that you have ties to (grew up in Atlanta => falcons fan etc...)

what's UTSA's record this year? I heard they were doin well.

Right, but not all people can go to institutions associated with college teams, for factors including money, academics, family situation, etc., etc. I chose to go to Mizzou because they're a better journalism school than UT and offered me a better financial package. Doesn't change the fact that I've been a Longhorn diehard my entire life, the same way I am with the Astros/Rockets/Texans, and still follow them religiously. I have tons and tons of friends who went to UT who don't even have an ounce of the passion, knowledge, loyalty, etc. that I do toward UT athletics.

I know the case of astros148, and I agree that he's a loon. Just saying to ease up a little on the implication that someone's devotion is automatically correlated with whether he actually attended the academic institution. Trust me, that's not the case.

Um, I sure as hell didn't go to UTSA.

So, I guess USC and ND can't have any fans except the rare college kids who can afford to shell out $40-$50k a year on tuition and living expenses? What if you don't go to college, like a majority of people?

Let's say a kid grows up in Indiana and is a Notre Dame diehard. He cheers for ND the same way someone who grew up around Atlanta would likely be a Falcons fan. He follows every game, lives and breathes the team. Unfortunately, his parents are teachers and can't afford the $40K a year to send him to school there, and while he's smart, he doesn't have the out of this world/top 1% SAT score to get a scholarship. Why should that keep him from being a ND fan in the same way kids who grow up in southeast Texas become fans of Texas teams?

And Texas has won 7 of the last 9, a fact you continue to overlook. To put it another way, A&M can win 2 of 3 and it would still take 57 years for A&M to tie the win-loss record.

I grew up in Miami as a 'Canes diehard, but I wouldn't refer to the team as "we" whenever they're playing. Besides, my passion for the schools I've attended/am attending (UH and A&M) far exceeds that for UM.

No, I did not overlook that. I know perfectly well that we are two for the decade against Texas. I also know we were mediocre in '06 and '07 when we beat Texas.

My only point is if you come in to call us a Division II school, what does that say about Texas losing to A&M two of the last three matchups?

Texas should win handily. I'm just hoping things might be starting to look up for A&M.

how do the stats look for the modern era (say the last 30 years or so)? I mean the olden days are worthless since A&M was an all military school early on ... I think the Ags may even lead the series since 1980 or so
