No compelling reason to stay other than the fact that if we don't we'll be back anyway cleaning up the mess that we left behind. The reason we have to deal with IS is because we abandoned the Iraqi people the way we did.

What it came down to is if we were willing to do the right thing for the Iraqi people, or if we were going to abandon them just like everyone said we would. We chose to abandon them in an effort to win political points back home.

I agree about the "no reason to trust the US" part but I don't agree with the "WE'VE." It was actually citizens against invading in the 1st place...

If they cared so much about the Iraqi people they wouldn't have invaded and killed so many of them in the 1st place and the majority of the US citizens wouldn't have supported it... But I'm surprised you're willing for the taxpayers of this country to go deeper in debt for, well _ Iraq. Especially when you don't even want to do the right thing for people in this country.

Some things just can't be fixed. It's sad but true. The scope and scale of 100,000 troops, that would all fit in Texas Stadium, on 30 million people spread over half of Texas just isn't ever going to be enough; certainly not enough without indigenous help and in the light of conflict-enabling neighbors.

yeah i think us would need a million healthy non-ptsd troops to keep iraq from becoming worse. would need another trillion give or take a few hundred billion for proper nation building like schools, electricity, hospitals, and police and military that is not corrupt or militia or cowards that run away. we just dont have manpower or money or motivation to do this right so just gonna have to write this one off and leave that place alone. the moslems need to build their own strong institutions. normally if you break it you fix it but this isn't a fair world.
