trademarkjb, I can agree with you on the fact that Yao is not Hakeem or Shaq. But the fact is, the tool is only as good in how you use it. So if you try to use a Screwdriver as a Hammer, you will not get the full usage from the tool. Rick Smits was not that bad when a) he was healthy. b) they started utilizing his skills and strength to his advantage. c) stop trying to make him a traditional center. T_Man
I keep saying, that Yao should be utilized more in the mold of Sabonis. A 7'6 finesse center at the top of the key and high post, who can drain a 20ft jumper and can also pass, with that view advantage is better utilized as such instead of making him a constant low post banger.
our problems don't even start with Yao. Do you want to know our problems, i can name plenty that are ahead of Yao. 1) Our PF's are terrible. When you grab 0 rebounds in 30+ minutes, that's beyond lunacy. In 30 minutes, at least 3-4 rebounds should magically just fall in your lap. This point right here is significantly more important than how Yao is performing. Even if Yao had a 30/15 day, we wouldve still lost. 2) Our PG play. Things do look promising now that Sura is back but signing Ward and Bringing in Lue from Orlando was 2 terrible moves. JVG has a man-crush on ex-knick players and I hate it. They were all overpaid average players that are now overpaid washed up players. Our team besides 1 or 2 guys are terribly slow off the ball and this hurts Yao because he has to cover for that mistakes. There were plenty of able PG's over the offseason that we couldve signed (e.g. Damon Jones) but we had to bring in a washed up, couldn't even get minutes with the spurs last year, Ex-Knick. 3) Our coach. Self explanatory. This fool doesn't trust a lot of people and that to me is what's hurting this team. He has too many people on short leashes and he loves certain players to death. This hurts the development of young players and wears out our older veterans. I wish Yao was the only problem of this team cause i'll gladly take a 23-24 year old star in the making averaging 18/8 when the offense is mediocre at him gettin him the ball anyways.
so what? you guys were b****ing and whining when the rockets were winning!!!!!!! so what? this losing season should make no difference in this board.
com'on.....lets hope the best, we will draft that 7-3 lith guy so we will have the tallest frontline in NBA history
It weird, but I have enjoyed the other games more than watching our Rockets play. I really hope they can turn this crap around.
You already whined it in too many threads. I feel very good right now. Not resuming my league pass subscription probably is the best decision I made this year.
Does this thread/poll and the state of GARM qualify as life imitating art or vice versa? Perhaps I should devote a new thread to this important query...
Ha, I feel the same way. But try watching the Magic games, they are unbelievable to watch. The speed, the heart, the winning, everything we are missing. Isn't it sad?
Smeggy.... fascinating study of what happens when you put a gaggle of little agoraphobic Gallus domesticus together in a anonymous internet community. dontcha think?
my personal favorites: but really guys, i dont think van gundy means to make the rockets so crappy. he came in and did what he was supposed to do, get a better defensive team. im sure when the rockets organization hired him them knew that we would never be a top scoring team but instead a defensive team, and thats exactly what we have now; a defensive team that absolutely cannot score. we could try someone else and then just become a mediocre defensive team but we get exactly what we paid for...
Didnt JVG immediately bench Yao after he put up an airball from the right elbow with 15 seconds left on the clock.
