    To paraphrase Nelson Muntz when Springfield Elementary got their yearbooks...If Jackie Robinson hadn't done it, some other black guy would have!

    I wonder if Jackie had not been a hall of famer, would he have gotten this celebration?

    For example, instead of rookie of the year and MVP, he had just had one AB and never heard from again.

    that's they were very intentional about selecting a player with the skills of Jackie.

    Wasn't it great to see Hank Aaron? I remember reading an article that said he doesn't return Barry Bonds' phone calls and doesn't want to fly out to SF or Atlanta to see Barry break the record, but he did fly out to LA for JRD :D

    Larry Doby's career success was considerably less than Jackie Robinson's (although still a deserved HOFer), and the Indians have petition the league for a Larry Doby Day on the anniversary of him breaking the AL color barrier.
