Well I think Iverson over Arenas because Denver is going to end up better than Washington before it's over IMO.

You can't put Duncan at C though if I remember.

I believe it is like the all-star votes.

You have to pick 2 guards, 2 forwards and 1 center and it has to be players that actually start at that position.

I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure that's how it works.

Of course knowing the voters, they have more than once picked Big Ben over Yao, so they could still go something like this:

    1st team

Shaq (the media does worship him)

    2nd team

Amare (the media worships the Suns as well)

    3rd team

Howard (according to the media he's the "new Shaq")

    honorable mention

Big Ben (the media has voted him over Yao more than once before)

So yes it wouldn't be unprecedented for every exucse imaginable to come up from the media on why Yao is not even a top 4 C this year.

I don't believe Yao would be behind Shaq. How many games has Shaq played in this season? And Yao kicked his ass when they met each other.

I think Yao could make the first team. T-Mac might be put in the second team.

I doubt Yao will make either. Maybe Tracy will make second. Im not saying Yao isn't good enough to make All NBA teams but the Media will probably put Okur and Shaq.

tracy at the very minimum deserves to be on the second team. you could make an argument that he deserves first over kobe considering how he's led his team despite the injuries around him.

it's everyone else after those 3.

    nash/kobe

    t-mac/arenas

    wade/deron williams

It's called the media my friend...and they don't particularly love Yao Ming.

Second team yeah, but 4th/5th behind who!?

    Dirk, Nash, ..., ?

Definitely not Kobe, Carmelo, Arenas, Shaq, Wade. Maybe LeBron but I doubt it.

    here is what clyde thinks:
SI: Who is the best player in the league today?

Drexler: Kobe, and Tracy McGrady's a close second. Because of one, their skill level, and two, their knowledge of the game and basketball IQ.

Tracy will probably get 3rd team (deserves at least 2nd team). He really should be recognized for his resurgence this year.

Yao, first team easy before the injury. With Shaq playing better know, Yao will probably fall to 2nd. Which sucks.

I think both of them make it either on the second or third team.

However, I am FAR more interested in how both will help bring an end to our lack of playoff success for the better part of a decade.

That's the ONLY measuring stick for both guys. Until then, they will continue to be stuck with their current status: good kids, great talents, incapable of winning.

uh i dont think melo, arenas, wade, or shaq will be over mac in the MVP voting.

arenas has more to work w/ IN THE EAST and has shown he's not that good of a leader. he plays PG and averages the SAME # OF ASSISTS as tmac. and as bad as tmac has shot this yr, arenas has shot worse. outside of one dominant month, arenas has been pretty good, not great.

melo as we all know is not a great overall player right now. the media knows that.

wade would be over tmac b/c statistically he was better and he has a better rep around the NBA but he's injured and won't play until the minimum the last week of the NBA

shaq => not enough games to qualify

    Exactly what I said
Yao doesn't make it and only because of injury.
On another note, neither does D wade for the same reason.
Third team will probably be A.I in his place.

personally i think it should be yao on the first and tracy on the second, in reality i figure it will be yao and tracy on the second or if we really get screwed tracy on the third team. the only "center" i would accept being ahead of yao on the first team right now is amare

I didn't say any of them would. I was saying they wouldn't. He would even have more MVP votes than D Wade because the Rockets have a better record than the the Heat and while Yao went down T-Mac helped the Rockets flourish. When Shaq went down however, Wade barely kept the Heat afloat.

Only one I could see finishing over T-Mac is LeBron (other than Dirk/Nash of course) because he is leading his team pretty well and he's got the stats...but then again they're in the East.

Those other guys won't finish ahead of McGrady. He's been 3rd in Race to the MVP for a while now, and rightfully so.

incapable of winning? why? there's a number of things that contribute to winning a championship or even winning a playoff series. certainly no team in tracy or yao's past has lost because they aren't winners.

van gundy said it best when describing garnett and mcgrady. they're both clearly championship level players regardless of whether they've won anything yet or not.

I am talking about perception, and that's the perception around the league of both guys.

I am not saying they can't win because they can and eventually will. However, they're yet to show it when it counts.

I disagree, Tiger. They have both performed big in the big stage. It's a team game.

    Perception should not matter.
