Sweet. Ok, so we're doing both a whatif sim and Clutchfans matchups right?

How do we determine who plays who?

And as great as the individual players are, every team is, in my view, flawed to some degree.

RocketsRed14 - Love the Dream, Dumars, and King picks, but too many small forward types, not enough PF oomph to give your centers a hand.

RoxSqaud - Great backcourt. Like the Artest pick to toughen up your forward rotation. Your centers are good and they will play hard, but in this league is that enough?

Horry33 - Great C/PF combo, but your top two guards are small and I think as great and innovative as Cousy was, your pick overvalued him. I might start Penny at PG and get some size. I think you got good value in rounds 7 and 8, but I'm not crazy about Carmelo against this competition, especially on the D end.

BleedRocketsRed - There are only a few great winners in the history of the game and you got one of them in Bird. However, you immediately needed a second tier center who can catch Bird's passes... I don't think that's Deke. Cooper was probably a little high at that pick, but I can see why you did it, though in my view there were four defensive SGs worthy of consideration: Moncrief, Dumars, Cooper, and Alvin Robertson and I think you could have gotten one of them with a lower pick.

VBG - In any league like this, Magic is probably MVP. Great pick. I also like that you built the team around Magic and had a philosophy you followed with your picks. Barkley in the third is a huge steal, but he's all by himself. I would have considered a big, D-oriented 4 in place of Pierce, who seems a little redundant in light of your other wing players.

rimrocker - Some very odd picks. It's almost as if there were two minds picking this team. Center is the big issue with all the greats on other teams. Sabonis is an OK pick (though a bit of a panic pick from looking at the other Centers) because he will pull the block-minded Centers away from the basket, but in this league, Sabonis/Gilmore are probably a net liability. The forwards spots look like great value, but I'm a little worried about the attitude McAdoo and Hawkins are going to bring. Tiny was probably picked 2-3 rounds ahead of where he should have been and I don't see how you can go with 2 PGs in the first 2 rounds. Moncrief is necessary given the other SGs.

authentic91 - Great starting frontline. Zeke looks like he was picked too soon. Dumars is a solid pick for that round. Like VBG, you needed another PF. Still, one of the scarier teams picked. Good job.

thething - Solid rotation. Barry and CP3 should be able to dish enough to keep Wilt and Kobe more or less happy, though you have to wonder, who's team will it be? About the only other issues are reaching for Rose and picking a team-killer like VC.

RowdyRicky - This team has some great players, but it doesn't scare me at all. I think you reached for Stockton in Round 1, particularly when you could have had Russell, Duncan, or Moses. Also, Robinson and Rodman didn't like each other when they played together... how will this affect your chemistry? Solid value for Clyde in Round 3. Good mix of positions.

fadeaway - I like your first 4 picks, but where's your PF? A C/PF rotation of Russell/Reed/Dolph puts too much pressure on Russell, particulalry against teams with two Centers. Good value for Mullin.

ICanDunkOnYao - Excellent starting 5, though Walton and Duncan are going to have to work out who gets the low post, as you essentially have two centers (yes, I know Tim is listed as a PF). Guarding a great offensive 4 is also going to be tough for Tim. The Chief is a serviceable backup C, but Thurmond, Gilmore and others were still out there. Good value for the Grant Hill pick.

RKREBORN - I always thought Alex was a SF, not a SG. If so, he and Pippen play the same spot. You might get away with Wes at the PF spot, but he was more a center and DD was a true center. Like others, you need a solid PF. Do you really need 3/8 of your team to be PGs (though West can play SG)?

In conclusion, there are two teams I think are a little bit above the rest: VBG and authentic91 with thething right there if he can find a coach to meld that group.

I say we make 4 threads with polls to start off with three teams in each. Poll shuts down in...3-4-5 days?

    It would look like this:

    Who has the better team?
    TeamA
    TeamB
    TeamC

Four threads cover all twelve teams.

In the end there will be four teams left.

    Two more threads:

    Team A
    vs.
    Team B

    and

    Team C
    Vs.
    Team D

With the Final thread being the top two:

    Team A vs. Team C

    ....

I mean it is the offseason...Let clutchfans vote.

    Not much.

    You started this thread...

You pick the three teams for each thread...

In the 4-5 days the poll has the three teams gets to make their case on why they should move on to round 2.

Gotta be qualitative. Also are we looking at which team is better over a season or head to head in a playoff series?

    VBG's Team

    PG – Magic Johnson
    SG – Ray Allen
    SF – Lebron James
    PF – Charles Barkley
    C – Dwight Howard

    Bench -

    Bench Guard – Kevin Johnson
    Bench Forward – Paul Pierce
    Bench Center – Yao Ming

Either Schayes or Reed. Both are pretty equal in my view. Schayes is more of a pure PF but Reed had some great seasons at the position too.

@ rimrocker, thank you for your analysis of each team. I took over this team in round 3. I didn't pick Stockton or Robinson.

    Best of luck fellas.

Nice to hear an other person's view on my team. I took over the team after the 3rd round. I would have taken Pippen over Cousy possibly ending up with a starting lineup of Iverson, Durant, Pippen, K.Malone, and Kareem.
