We will definitely need to upgrade the roster and I like the trade ideas. 1. Bouncy can't be traded until January, methinks. So, if that's true, it'll be a belated Christmas gift. 2. Corey Maggette? Give them Bonzi + Juwan (Elton will likely play some 5 in that scenario, but in today's NBA, and with Franken-Kaman injured, that's happening anyway) 3. Reggie Evans? JVG slammed him pretty hard last season. So that would be another player whose chances at wearing a Rockets uni are Van-Gundied (killed). One way or the other, Bouncy is gone, and the Rox will do whatever necessary to win without him. Why not (pipe dream): Bonzi Wells + Rafer Alston + Juwan Howard + 1st round pick for Richard Hamilton + Antonio McDyess As long as Sheed and Bonzi don't go set fire to anything, the Pistons might find a way to keep Bonzi, those two headcases being friends.
I want shooters! The same thing is happening that was happening last year. We're missing wide open shots! Tmac can go on and on about how those were great shots last night and sure he's probably right.......except, the team can't shoot. I'm sick of alston jacking up so many shots. I don't care if he gets lucky and makes 3 in a row sometimes. It doesn't make up for the fact he missed like 8-10 in a row previously.
Raef is riding the pine in Portland. Juwan and Bonzi gets it done. They can just cut Bonzi and it saves them salary cap dollars. Raef makes too much money, yes. But Juwan is $6.5 million of dead money on the roster. He adds NOTHING and in fact actually takes away from us the vast majority of the time. And Bonzi has given us nothing. That's $8.5 million of dead waste negative contributions. The money's got to go somewhere next year. If we could get Raef, he would be a primary rotational player for us and he can flat out hit from distance. He would make the perfect offset to Hayes whenever Yao is out of the game. Given 25 mpg, he would gives us a very efficient 10/3. No, doesn't have great rebounding numbers. So, neither does Juwan and Bonzi ain't play'n. And he has been a shotblocker in the past before his injury, a very instinctive shot blocker might I add. I think Van Gundy could up his defensive play to very acceptable.
