None of them are economic policy experts unless you are confusing being anti big bank/wall st as being an expert.

Yea because raising the environmental and health standards of SE Asia screams trickle down.....

I've been arguing for demand side policies on here if you actually paid attention.

Watch the standards go down to China's preferred level and see how the US really compete against that. It's a bit amazing to watch those that were for globalization all of a sudden turn toward protectionist policies.

I think your ignorance on the issue clouds your vision.

Working conditions in Vietnam would improve and standards would improve relative to current levels.

What's hilarious about all the TPP talk was I don't think anyone actually read what it was about and what it was supposed to accomplish. It was literally nothing but scare tactics from the left and right so it was destined to die.

Why not? Are you of the mind it's not consequential to America?

Not surprising... economic populism doesn’t work well. Personal responsibility is usually a very subjective phenonomen.

IF... we (US) got better terms in returning you could argue the grandstanding was a success. If not... then the grandstanding was for the 'likes' and the 'rep' and not much else.

Interesting to me that potentially reversing a mistake is frowned upon. I guess you prefer your politicians to make a decision and stick with it regardless of outcome or consequences.

LOL. refining or even changing a position for a better or the correct position is not "frowned upon." What is being ridiculed here is how often trump changes position. And how dramatically. His contant use of hyperbole bordering on demagoguery (eg the Hill refering to dis description of TPP as "rape of the country" and even the OP's subject title use of "satan" that I was mocking).

We should hope that a president gets new or additional insight when in office. As in all other areas of governing, trump and his people take it to ridiculous extremes.

China's One Belt One Road initiative (Marshall plan on steroids) is coming to the whole world while US is retreating from the world, just make it easier for China to become the world leader.

If you say so. Couldn’t we have a gotten better terms during further negotiations while we were still apart of it?

Seems like Trump’s biggest enemey is himself in TPP and NAFTA.

Trump always think he can get a better deal. He got zero deal. The TPP went on without the US. Not being part of the TPP is dumb. Frowned upon is the dumbness of the stance, pulling out without any mitigation or workable alternative. The preference is for politicians to not be so dumb.

Correcting dumbness is good, and isn't frowned upon. I don't believe it until it happen because the elephant in these things is always someone big ass ego.

Since the TPP is finalized, the US has little leverage left, but hey, we got the best mind on it.

Actually I doubt Trump really cared about TPP or understand it well, he knows it get his base all worked up, that was the only reason he was against it.
