Why wouldn't you wait 4 more days? Hopefully Brantley and Maton come up...you can still shuffle around the other guys to and fro the bullpen as needed
That isn't how options work. Anybody who is coming up this season has already used their option for this year. There's no reason to wait for roster expansion, unless Dusty is in fact the one pulling these strings. I find the idea unconscionable, but if we wait until September to avoid demoting Julks it will be believable.
Brantley takes a 40-man move, not a big deal (Bannon?) do it. If you wanted to add Arrighetti? That's another one. I'd add Leon for the PR/OF/Siri/Fisher role... New CBA...I believe there is a cap on how many times they can be shuttled btwn AAA and majors before having to pass through waivers
I know it's 5, none of our position players are close to that, particularly Julks. Demotion limitations are most certainly not a factor in our current roster choices.
The idea that the players "love Dusty" just doesn't ring true to me Pena was being interviewed on MLB Radio last week and when asked about Dusty his response was very slow, you could tell he was trying to make sure he thought it out and said what he was supposed to say. The rest of interview had been instant answers I'm sure these guys have respect for how long dusty has been involved in the game, and all of that.
Because maybe Dana Brown doesn't want to see Julks play any more and he knows the only way to keep it from happening is to get him back to AAA
I think that Julks is the 14th guy on the playoff roster ( when they can short pitching in short series), though I hate that idea. Dusty's preference and his speed/ baserunning put him there. Singleton will also make the team because if Abreu needs a day due to a slight stiff back or such, can't bring Singleton up w/o losing a player for rest of current and next playoff series. Much better to just have Jon there in case. Also LH bats will be valuable as AL Playoff pitching is very RH heavy and that has been kryptonite this year. Maldy/Diaz Abreu/Singleton Altuve Bregman Pena Yordan/Brantley Chas Tucker Dubon Meyers or Kessinger - depends on how they feel about Dubon being only b/u infielder vs Meyers defense. Then Julks if 12 pitchers due to short series.
He's a "veteran's manager" rather than a player development one. Polar opposite of Jimy Williams, but teams kept putting him in situations where his strengths were under appreciated
4 for his last 65. I thought I couldn't dislike a player more than Maldonado but Dusty is making Julks close the gap by continuing to play him.
LH bats aren't valuable vs RH pitching, if the LH bats are terrible Sorry but that is 1980-1990's thinking We need bats who can hit RH pitching, and it matters not what side of the plate they are standing on Julks and Jon are not mlb quality players. I'm not saying you are wrong about them being on the playoff roster (assuming we make it, which is far from assured with the players johnnie uses), but if they are on the roster it is an extremely flawed playoff roster

But outside of Oswalt he didn't have much to put on the mound When we brought in Roger and Andy and then Miller stepped up, not winning big with that group was the end of ole 1M The 36-10 run to end that season was one of the best stretches of Astros baseball history
Williams and Terry Collins were amazing IF teachers and coaches, but had no ability to deal with people (clubhouse, FO, media, etc...) outside of that dynamic.
