He didn't pass it to much today but when he did he pass to the wrong man this game, Artest.

Assists will come after opponents decide to double his drives to the basket. Remember....points > assists. If he has a good look or drive, I rather have him take it than pass the ball.

What really impressed me was the blocked shot and the tip in basket.

If he keeps this up for the rest of the season he is a good candidate for most improved player.

People weren't hitting shots. He can't control that. Although you're right he can't be CP3. AI's a stretch, but probably a closer comparison.

Obviously passing is not his strength. If his mindset is score first, pass second, he does well. He lacks the skills to have a mindset of pass first, score second. But maybe it doesn't matter. Maybe we just might be able to get away with it. I like it.

As far as comparisons, how about a shorter, not as strong, not as long, but just as fast if not faster, Barbosa?

Passing is not his strength? He is a hell of a passer. Unfortunately, he doesn't have the "pass first" mentality. When he forces it, well, we've seen what can happen...

No, passing is not his strength. Scoring is.

we have our own version of Barbosa...
When was the last time our point guard outplayed Phoniex's point guard?
It really seems like a long time to me..

Both teams had well below average assist numbers. 13 for us, 11 for the Suns.

Off the top of my head, I can think of two perfect passes from Brooks that would have been assists if players hit wide open shots.

One was to Landry in the 1st half. I think it was a pick n roll where Landry ended up wide open when they tried to double Brooks. Brooks passed the ball to Landry for a wide open shot at about the FT line. Landry missed.

On a play late in the 2nd half, Brooks threw a beautiful 35-foot, one-handed, cross court bounce pass to Barry in the corner. Barry missed.

There were probably a couple of others I can't recall right now.

Regardless, Brooks had several size-defying plays in this game:

-Defensive rebound over the 7' Lopez
-Offensive rebound over the 7' Lopez
    -Block from behind on Hill
-Tip in late in the game

He also had a couple of sick floaters. The last one was ridiculous. Some of those floaters are horrible shots for most players. He clearly has an uncanny ability to hit those with reasonable consistency.

He seems to also be looking for more mid-range shots. I imagine the coaches are encouraging that. He hit a couple in a row in the 1st half. If he makes this a consistent part of his game, he will become that much more difficult to cover. He has already shown he can finish around the basket and shoot the 3.

He still needs to keep his dribble going at times and avoid driving right into double teams. He seems to be making small strides in this area every time we see him play.

AB is playing out of his mind! He impressed me SOOOO much!

He uses his speed well. He is still not a pass-first PG who can create lots of shots for other players, but man! He slashes and shoots the ball very well. To be fair, I don't have a problem with his shot selections.

For his assist numbers to pick up, rockets need to run a lot more. Because AB's speed creates open lines. When the lines are open, it should be either a layup by AB or a layup/dunk by a cutter or our bigs.

As a far as I am concerned... brooks does something rafer cannot and will never be able to do... and that is keep the other teams defense honest... Im sick of rafers off nights. When hes off the other team will just leave him wide open and take his low percentage shots while double teaming any of our other guys... brooks however can and will make them pay... also brooks has good court vision and he can find the open man (they just need to make their shots)... One thing that concerns me... is when brooks is hot it always seems like Adelman takes him out.... I mean rafer played well tonight but brooks was fiery...

Another thing I noticed is that brooks is so fast that often times the man guarding him will foul him while driving... in the past 7 games brooks has been consistent... something I have yet to see from rafer... The only thing that concerns me is his defense, but I do not think rafer's is anything to write home about.... And brooks has mean bank shot off the glass....

I cant wait for battier to get back... And thats my 2 cents......

Really, because I saw him making great passes out there, but all you statline junkies keep looking at the boxscore instead of what's actually happening in the game.
