If Brewer shoots into the top 7, and Sheldon Williams goes top 5, then one out of:

    Gay
    Roy
    Aldridge
    Thomas
    Bargnani
    Morrison

would fall to us. I would be happy with any of these guys, either to keep or to package in a trade down.

Unless the two who fall are Thomas and Bargnani (the two most likely, imho.

Thomas just seems like a world-class jackhole, and Bargnani may or may not even stoop to play for an American team.

In which case, it's not great luck for us unless someone is willing to give up a ton to trade up and pick one of them. Perhaps that would allow us to get a two-fer, maybe pick up Reddick and Ager, but I would still be really bummed from missing out on Brewer.

Thomas might be a jackhole (I don't think we can conclude that based on an interview), but a lot of these ultra-talented, arrogant, SOBs turn into Kobe Bryants, and Amare Stoudamires. And according to this report:

    http://www.draftexpress.com/viewarticle.php?a=1312

Bargnani's agent refuted that report about him only wanting to play in Toronto. And even if Bargnani did have a preference for Toronto. Do you think he'd still be all gung-ho about the Raps if they pass on him when they had every opportunity to draft him.

I like Brewer too, but there are a bunch of other players that can fill our needs as well.

thomas is a stud. if he falls to #8, we'd be fools to pass up on him. while playing out of position thomas was easily the most dominating inside force in march madness. in reality, thomas is a 6'10" small forward wit the ability to play and dominate (at least defensively) the power forward slot.

My question would be is Thomas athletic and quick enough to guard shooting guards? If he had that kind of versatility to guard guys 2, 3, or 4 then that would be something.

I just have this feeling that no matter who we draft we are gonna regret not drafting the other guy we wanted, ex: Draft Brewer, Brewer sucks, Carney super star, Draft Carney, Carney Sucks, Brewer super star...

I didn't want to start a new thread on this, because it's not all that significant, but I am a student at the U of A and talked with Ronnie Brewer's 1st cousin this afternoon. The cousin indicated a great hope that the Rockets would pick Brewer and that Ronnie felt the same way. I mentioned that I'm a big Rockets fan and told them that most of the Rockets fans wanted Brewer or Carney unless someone like Roy fell. His cousin and the guy with his cousin made some snide comment about Rodney not being able to do half of what Ronnie could...

Anyways, just thought I'd pass it along...

    Thanks SirCharlesFan...

Granted the info is a little bias, but I'm getting more and more confident in Brewer as additional details come out.

I was high on Brewer as a possible draft pick since March. All the recent hype, though, is starting to get me worried. He might actually be gone by the time we pick.

    Then we'll land Rudy Gay...

I guess. Brewer just seems like a better fit.

Being a Florida grad who watched us play LSU twice (though Thomas essentially missed both--one with a stinger and the other with foul problems) but also watched Thomas in a number of other games, let me sound a big fat veto on the Thomas accolades.

Don't get me wrong: He had a great season and is a phenomenal athlete who may turn into a great role player in the NBA, but he lacks any ball skills or shooting range whatsoever to play the three, while not having the size or post skills to play the four. He basically is a Stromille Swift with heart, but less skill. Seeing as how the poor kid only played one season due to the neck injury, had little to no praise coming out of high school, and was basically the fourth offensive option on his college team, I cannot see him adding a ton to any team until his second contract. We are not talking about a big, physical guy like Ben Wallace (who also did not become a force until his second contract), but a spindly defender who has shown great athleticism.

If Thoms falls, then maybe some team will help the Rox out via trade.

If Thomas falls to #8, then we trade #8 to NO for 12 & 15. That would give us 3 picks in the top 32. We could address our 3 biggest needs: tall 2, backup 1 & 4/backup 5.

i've got a strong feeling rockets will draft redick. rockets seem to like high profile/ hyped acquisitions. redick and his past accolades fits that bill perfectly.

But JVG said alot of things today that would make everyone think we're not drafting Redick.
