NO! Are you asking "where" or "were?" In any case, NEITHER!

When I have this dream, I feel an overwhelming terror. I have awakened from the dream whimpering. I do get the sensation of intense nostril pain during this dream. It's probably just a powerful nightmare. Like I said, I have no empirical evidence of anything happening to me-- just these dreams and a keen interest in the subject.

Some of the stories that I've seen on alien abduction go with the nasal probe rather than the anal. Thank God I fall into that camp.

I say there is another life form out there, the universe is so big and its always expanding, gotta be some other type of lifeform out there. Will we ever make contact with them..who knows, always a possibility...technology is always improving, i cant see that ever changing.

On a side note: A few years ago I was watching some tv show on TechTV, and they had some guy on saying he communicated with people that live in the center of the sun, and they are all like 8 ft tall or something..thought that was pretty funny

If there are aliens out there, I don't want to meet them. If they do exist, they sure as hell are not going to think of us as 'equals'. Do we think of our pet dogs/cats as equals? Exactly..

If we're lucky, we'll go by undetected until we develop more advanced weapons.. only then can we start a dialogue.

what an interesting mentality. What if we develop the technology to go into space at faster than light speed and meet another, more primitive race. I wonder if we would treat them as bad as you expect them to treat us?

Life tends to eat other life. I don't think we should kid ourselves. I will say that life only tends to eat when it is hungry, so if the aliens can feed us, there's no reason to eat them. But you go all that way you probably gonna be hungry. Same thing goes for something coming here. It's gonna need to eat something if it's all similar to the life we know.

i believe there has to be some other life forms out there...some other sort of civilization on some other planet...however, i don't believe they intend to be evil...but, i'm sure we saw them, they'd be scared ****less and react in an offensive way. to them, we would probably be perceived as evil. and without any ability to communicate coherently, this would always be a problem...leading to the war of the worlds.

That's one giant game of Battleship.

Still, if advanced civilizations stay persist for thousands years and have advanced telescopic capabilities, then looking for planets that can harbor life similar to theirs isn't that far off. The question then would be, how would life differ from ours?

It' s just a fluke. Somehow, the only TV signals that reach their planet far, far away is the Spice Channel.

I find it highly unlikely. As Stephen Hawking has said: the treatment of "primitive" peoples on this planet has been atrocious, and we at least are of the same species. It's possible that we'd be so ontologically different from aliens that neither side would feel any identification with the Other.

I think Hawking's right: we should probably hope we don't encounter anybody sometime soon. If we encounter them, then they'll have to initiate the encounter at the moment. Which means they could snuff us out like a candle...

About 20 years ago my wife and I witnessed this light hovering maybe a couple of thousand feet over our house, wavering in intensity, moving in zig zag patterns. No sounds......really eery. Then it quickly sped away. We had just gotten home on a crisp October night and our babysitter was standing in the front yard watching this thing. Lots of people in Nashville saw it that night. Short article in the paper about it the next day, then nothing else was written.

Don't know what it was, but it wasn't a plane or helicopter...that's for damn sure. Doubt that weather balloons move like this thing did. So it would have to qualify for some kind of UFO.

Like others, I believe that the odds are overwhelming that other intelligent life exists somewhere out in the universe. But as Don Henley says "they ain't here, they ain't coming, not in a million years!!"

Two close friends and I saw something similar camping at night in the forests high above the Basin at Big Bend, around 1970. It was also on a perfectly clear night. We saw what we thought was a satellite slowly arcing across the night sky.. I don't know who spotted it first, but we started to stand and watch it. Needless to say, we were startled when it suddenly stopped moving and began coming in our direction in a straight line. It became brighter and appeared larger as it got closer. We were facinated, but just joked about it being an alien ship or something. Then it changed direction again abruptly a couple of times, which didn't seem like a satellite or meteorite falling. It still kept coming in our direction at increasing speed. Our joking interest soon turned to standing there in the dark, brilliant with stars, with our mouths open. It appeared to come within a few hundred feet of us and then just stopped overhead. For several moments it stayed there... long enough for us to quickly glance at each other and mutter, "Is this a trip ot what? Is this damn thing real??" and one or two other choice phrases. Then it shot off at high speed, doing it's abrupt direction change two or three times until it disappeared. Very strange indeed.

I had another experience when I was a kid that was even stranger and happened during a summer afternoon. I was eight or nine years old, in my backyard with another good friend the same age, and a kid 3 years younger who, oddly enough, was with me that night at Big Bend so many years later. We were just playing around when we noticed a shimmering disc about a yard across, hovering above us 25 or 30 feet. We exclaimed and pointed at it. I remember feeling like I was being watched. After the initial exclamations, we just stood there looking at it. After several long moments, it shot off at an angle, abrubtly changed directions a couple of times, and then took off into the sky until it disappeared. I never forgot the experience. The fellow who was my same age ran into me several years ago, after being out of touch for over 20 years. We talked about our families and the usual stuff. Out of impulse, I asked if he remembered the odd encounter we had that day. He immediately said, "You mean the strange disc we saw when we were kids?" I said, "Yeah, the disc. Tell me how you remember it." He described it just as I remembered the experience. I hadn't seen this person in like forever, yet his memory of that afternoon was as vivid as mine. The younger friend, who I stayed in contact with, remembered it the same way, although he must have been about 5 when it happened.

Strange things happen, with no ready explanation. One can choose to ignore them or not, but they do happen to some of us. I think there are intelligent lifeforms out there, and I think it's the height of human ego to imagine that there are not or, for that matter, that Einstein figured the universe all out with his mathematical genius. The one thing I am absolutely certain of is that I'm not certain about anything, except things like the love of my family and the like.

Hell . . . Scientist say Dolphin's brains are advanced enough
that they maybe more intelligent than we think

    and we cannot understand them

So What makes me think someone out there hearing
what is probably babble and static to them
would make an effort to contact Us

    Also
Just because an alien comes here. . doesn't mean we see them
look at anthopoligist who hide and study 'the natives'

Of course . . IMO Aliens are real and out there
but WHY WOULD THEY WANT TO CONTACT US?
We'd kill them on site . . .'just in case'
