Kudos! Now you've learned what vegetarian means too! For myself, I have always known what both words meant but we are all on this planet to learn so keep on keepin on.
I think the whole "Total Veg... vs Veg..." is stupid. Either you are or you're not. Adding "Total" to it either gives one group a reason to look down on others or without "Total" allows hypocrisy. Now I'm ok with Vegeterian vs Vegan. btw... I eat meat.
if it helps at all. I dont give a damn what either you or jeff eat. guys, I dont know why you are surprised, in general...people are stupid. sad but true
Stock isn't liquid meat. That's like saying if you put a meatball into a bottle of water then the contents of the bottle of water are now liquid meat.
Just to add some more fuel to this ever growing fire....a series of ads that ran on Aussie TV (yes, that's Sam Neil!) <object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/_9SuABGeeb8"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/_9SuABGeeb8" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object> <object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/eBhdqrdN4zg"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/eBhdqrdN4zg" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object> <object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/hNWB6Vq18xc"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/hNWB6Vq18xc" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object>
No. The flavor in chicken stock is mostly fat and some proteins from the chicken which dissolve into the water. ‘Soup bones’ used to make stock are valuable for the bone marrow, which is mostly fat which dissolves into the boiling water. It is certainly not liquefied meat, but it does contain dead animal components. Unfortunately, it is incredibly difficult do make sure that you avoid it if you are a vegetarian, and I would be willing to bet that most vegetarians have had some sort of vegetable soup that used chicken stock without realizing it, or at least realizing it until much later. At least that was my experience.
Next time your in the grocery grab a can and read the ingredients -- lots of non-veggie material in there.
I don't care what you people eat and I don't care what you or others call it. I'm just wondering why this great thread now has 3 pages without a picture.
Ummmm...it shows a kid eating chicken - and that's not even red meat. (yeah, out of all the things i could have said against that stupid video - i chose that).
Alicia Silverstone was born in San Francisco, California to Monty Silverstone, a real-estate investor, and Didi Radford, a former flight attendant. Silverstone's father is English-born and her mother is Scottish. Her father, a native of East London, is Jewish and her mother also Jewish upon marrying Silverstone's father.
The last college courses I took were anatomy & physiology and nutrition. The nutrition instructor even said vegetarianism while okay isnt the blessed purest form of eating its made out to be, especially veganism. And that the ol' traditional food chart was about the way to go. Babies need some nutrients and vitamins found outside of plant food when they are forming and growing. It helps with better bone structure and tissue formation, among other things....Not saying veganism is an infant death recipe and not saying its straight up meat where the nutrients should come from. Just that humans are naturally omnivorous and our body chemistry reflects it. Vegetarianism and veganism is a PERSONAL lifestyle choice. Since veggos and animal rights activists seem to go hand in hand, this dumb line of questioning had been brought up too often already, but how come the animals they protect devour other animals freely in their "natural" habitat for survival, but us humans are off limits? Why not impose the vegan way on lions and tigers so other tigers can see the harm of their savage ways and make change in this world.
The same way one can look at an animal and think, "I'm above this," in terms of...intelligence? or however we measure or humanity, as a justification for eating it, you can also use that superiority to reject its hunting/killing. And we do this already in many ways, obviously, some people just choose to take this other step in it because they don't feel right about the killing. Afterall, we are smart enough to farm, the horse is not. That's my take on it anyway, I'm not a vegetarian or vegan, but I've always thought about it, especially recently.
