"Nothing will benefit human health and increase chances for survival of life on Earth as much as the evolution to a vegetarian diet." -Albert Einstein "It is my view that a vegetarian manner of living, by its purely physical effect on the human temperament, would most beneficially influence the lot of mankind." -Albert Einstein
As a recent convert to Vegetarianism (1 month on Friday!!), I am excited that I now have a good conversation starter with Alicia, when we inevitably meet . . . I've had this discussion with folks a lot lately, as to why I became veg. and whether my reasons are sound. For me, more than anything it's a moral issue. I've always felt hypocritical being pro-animal rights, and pro-environment, yet eating meat. I have a very strong dislike for the meat-industry in this country, and I would prefer not to support it. On top of that, whenever I've actually sat and thought about what eating meat really entails, I've always thought it was a little gross. I don't know if my vegetarianism will stick, but I want it to. It's actually been remarkably rewarding. Health-wise, I think I've actually gained weight, but that'd be because of my insane-busy schedule, and the fact that I'm eating about as poorly as one can possibly eat. But I've tried a lot of food that I never would've tried before, and found that I like a lot of it. For instance, I never had the vegetarian bowl/burrito at Chipotle before. Ever since I tried it, I can't imagine ordering anything else. It's been a great experience for me so far, and if everything keeps going as well as it has so far, I am excited to live a meat-free life from here-on out.
LOL @ all the anti-vegetarian, "it's not natural" sentiment. It's no trouble to tell that this board is based in Texas.
What a pic. I'm in, Alicia, you convinced me with your vegetarian body. Now I have a banana for you to taste and all I ask for is your cherries in return.
