I agree, we have canine teeth which allows us to eat meat. We wouldn't have them if we were supposed to only eat veggies. And plus, there's no shortage of meat and there won't be for some time, I just don't see a rational reason to become a vegetarian. ------------------------------------ And before someone brings up a counter-point.
Nice...I'd hit it with my tofu bar... Well, glad to see she's back in shape, but wouldn't it have been easier if she just worked out?
I can't get over this f'ing B. Somebody should shoot her with a taser at least, straight up. I know she reads this board so listen to me little girl, don't you ever EVER try to suggest anything to us ever again, or I will find you and kill you, and eat your meat. I was born for this ::chomp chomp:: I agree wholeheartedly with people saying "***" lol it's perfect

A few thoughts: Want to touch the heiny. I like animals...they taste good. I could be a vegetarian if I ate Indian food all the time. I spent a few days w/ my friend's family (he's Indian) for 3 days and I thought it was great. The flavor is rich enough that I don't mind if there's no meat. But while I love eating Indian food, I don't think I could eat it more than 3 times a week (every other day) for the rest of my life. My problem w/ PETA sometimes is the all-or-nothing attitude. Either you embrace every aspect or you're a bad person. I'm as liberal as they come, but you've got to promote your cause by encouraging and embracing people, not making an issue so divisive that it's 'us against them'. It just gives more ammo for conservatives who like to rally against them. Same goes for some environmental groups. Start by encouraging people to make minor changes in their lifestyle rather than say you're a bad person if you don't follow a list of 100 rules. End of rant.
i want to comment on this thread, but not until i get home. i know i saw some pics on the second page, but ill wait for that.
The line with 3:46 left that carnivores have short intestines to avoid the absorption of fat never ceases to make me laugh. As though carnivores in the wild are all counting calories and worried about their fat consumption, and potential heart attacks when they are always flirting with starvation and fat is just about the most energy dense food source they can find. Beyond the absurd, the rest of this is all easily refuted. I posted a link last time you posted this which destroys all the oversimplification and overt intentional deceptions that comprise this video. Edit: Here it is: http://www.beyondveg.com/billings-t/comp-anat/comp-anat-1a.shtml
I have no problems with anything people want to eat. I just expect the same respect in return. We live in the fattest country on the planet and believe that fried chicken on top of iceberg lettuce covered in ranch dressing is a "healthy" alternative to a cheeseburger. I rarely debated my vegetarian choices with people because even my doctor didn't have training in nutrition - most don't because it isn't required in medical school. What you eat is a choice, not a biological imperative, at least not in a society where anything you want is readily available in a grocery store or fast food restaurant and all we have to do is drive our air conditioned cars through a drive through to get it. If you lived in the jungle and had to hunt to eat or die, that would be one thing.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vegetarianism People choose vegetarianism for various reasons: The majority of the world's vegetarians are Hindu. Hinduism and Jainism teach vegetarianism as moral conduct while Christianity and Islam generally do not. Buddhism in general does not prohibit meat eating, while Mahayana Buddhism encourages vegetarianism as beneficial for developing compassion. Minor denominations that advocate a fully vegetarian diet include the Seventh-day Adventists, the Rastafari movement and the Hare Krishnas. Most major paths of Hinduism hold vegetarianism as an ideal. There are three main reasons for this: the principle of nonviolence (ahimsa) applied to animals; the intention to offer only "pure" (vegetarian) food to a deity and then to receive it back as prasad; and the conviction that non-vegetarian food is detrimental for the mind and for spiritual development. Nonviolence is a common concern of all the vegetarian traditions in Hinduism; the other two aspects are relevant for those who follow special spiritual paths.
I have always loved Alicia Silverstone no matter what she ate. To add to the religious aspect: <object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/d9lk5pe6HkM"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/d9lk5pe6HkM" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object>
Most vegetarans make it out to be the vegetarians vs. the unhealthy meat eaters. Whether they say it or not (you basically just did in a way), it is what they think. Your example cited fried chicken. I'm a meat eater, I believe that complete proteins are necessary for a healthy human being. I eat lean meats and fresh vegetables, 4-5 times per day. I supplement healty fats (fish oil), and extra protein (shakes) throughout my day. The only carbs I eat are oatmeal in the mornings, and the few carbs I get from my fresh vegetables. I eat NO sugar and nothing processed. If I want a "treat", I'll eat some fruit on occassion. I have been doing this for 2 years now. I'm 6'1, around 215lbs and have a six pack, not an ouce of fat on my body. I think I am healthy, I look healthy, I feel healthy, it shows physically. I have vegetarian friends who eat no meat, they eat their veggies (great!) and beans (decent... but not a complete protein). BUT they also eat french fries, cookies, potato chips, sugary cereal, processed foods, etc. These people aren't healthy. Their diet is filled with carbs and sugars, there is no protein to slow down the absorption of these simple carbs and sugars, so their insulin levels spike, fat stores increase and their risk for diabeties increases. Compared to these types of vegetarians, my diet is superior and so is my health. As for the vegetarians who eat veggies and not all the above mentioned crap, kudos. I think that is a healthy way to live, and studies have shown that these types of diets and calorie restriction diets increase health and life-span. I also believe my way is just as healthy, and at the same time I get to enjoy some meats and as a man, maintain some muscle tone.
