Making fun of the national anthem is not funny. Roseanne Barr tried this about 10 years ago or so in San Diego at a baseball game and it went over like a fart in church. Everybody booed because it was obviously in poor taste. Ali G, a foreigner, coming to the US and making fun of our President and then mocking our national anthem is by definition Anti-American. There is no way it cannot be.
I agree with Texxx. Whether it was funny is irrelevant. There is a time and place for everything. This is why Freedom of Speech has some limitations, such as yelling "Fire" in a crowded theatre. Anyhoo, where is a link for Jew in the well?
well the ones in the Alabama episode are purely American and very much hypocrites! "as long as you stay away from my kids"
Thats a bit different, people can get killed with something like that.. I think some will think it's in bad taste and those people need to take the stick out of their butt.. I have seen JAY LENO make fun of the Canadian national anthem, hell that didnt even make the news...
I agree. like I said before, he should have been shot. (below the waist that is, sothe shooter isn't charged with attempted murder)
It doesn't sound all that funny to me, either. I've never been much for that whole "let's get in people's faces!" humor.
The bit where he talked the fashion designer into letting him on the runway in his underwear was priceless. DD
I think he knows the risks and gladly takes them in the name of comedy. Remember when some people in Canada got pissed at Conan for some of the jokes he made while he was up there? Didn't most of us here think the Canadiens were blowing it out of proportion?
But had Conan made fun of their anthem, those same people who thought they were blowing it out of proportion would be saying Conan was out of line. Uh, yeah. Right. That's it.
I don't have a problem if a comedian makes fun of the anthem while on a comedy stage. I've heard many people poke fun at how hard it is to sing, etc. I do have a problem with someone who purposely screws up an anthem, of any country, at an event where the people expect to hear it performed the way it was intended.
I read somewhere that his version ended with, "and your home in a grave". lol sorry no link......but i swear i read it on the internet thingie
