I remember this guy when he played at Florida State; he didn't stand out too much (13pts 7rebs I just checked) because they had Al Thornton to make all the highlight reel plays and draw the NBA scouts. Nevertheless, they always had (and perhaps still did last year) the reputation of being the most athletic team in the ACC, outside Carolina in their championship years of course. If I could say anything about that Thornton/Johnson team, it's that Thornton was the PF who roamed all over the floor in a KG/Bosh type game, and Johnson was the banger down low to fight for rebounds and putbacks. I don't think he has much potential honestly (he was putting up 4-2 in 12 mpg for Miami, and this upcoming season will be his fifth year out of college), but who knows, only time will tell if Morey elects to keep him.
Johnson has the physical tools to be a player in the league. He is not going to make the rotation with his offense. That is not his game. He will have to be a energy player to make it in the league. He could be a good helpside defender and good finisher around the rim if set up by guards. He will get a chance to show something in summer league.
Maybe DD can make another video and do the rountine raise the roof hand gestures while blurting out in an odd voice "Pump up the Johnson!!!"
NBA player on what planet? He's yet another 6-9 PF. Last time I looked, the Rockets had a few of those.
Hey sometimes it is just as important to find the Chucky Brown's and Mario Elie's off the scrap heap as it is to chase the pretty girl in the bar. DD
Nice dig DD.. its nice to have a discussion about anyone other then bosh , lebron, and wade!! he looks like he will stay on the roster and hopefully he can learn some from our starters.
He's interesting but I think he's there for the summer league or is going to get cut soon. I mean if we have Scola (hopefully) Hill, Patterson, Andersen at PF and we want to upgrade at that position means he probably won't be on the team come next season, but hey you never know.
Sounds interesting and worth giving some garbage minutes to. I'd still much rather see more Hill, of course.
