How sweet would it be if they did a Vegas residency? A bunch of fellow Rush nerds up and down the strip.

They pretty much said last year that R40 would probably be their last major tour. They could see them doing one off shows or a residency, but Neil has a young child and he doesn't want to be away on the road away from from his kid at this point in his life.
That's part of it but it's also his body is breaking down and he doesn't really like touring anyway. But, he understood that touring was always necessary. He really wanted to retire in the 90s. The only problem I have with this whole thing is the wording of the previous statement. It says retiring from major tours. A major tour in Rush language is 30 dates. So, this implies he might be up for a minor tour or less. But, he recently referred to himself as "retired from touring drummer". For someone who is so well read and a writer of books, he is not being straight with anyone about whether he is actually retired from performing live. He appears to have left the door cracked. He also stated in previous comments that new Rush music is possible. So, really all we know is he is done with "major" tours. A minor tour or residency is still possible. But, then he says his body is basically telling him he is done. Alex and Geddy don't even know for sure WTF is up. We will only really know with the passage of time. I think Neil is not even sure except for the "major" tours part. As a huge fan, it's a little frustrating given the mixed signals. They may never perform live again. It's up in the air. But, it's not really any fans right to complain because they have toured so extensively throughout their career. All we really know is we have a band with band mates who are not on the same page. Geddy would continue as long as he can and I think Alex would be in by default. They don't feel they are done. Neil feels differently obviously primarily about the touring part. But, Neil can obviously change his mind. Geddy has talked Neil into doing tours before he didn't want to do. He could probably talk him into doing some limited dates as long as it doesn't constitute a major tour. We will see what happens. At a minimum, I think we can expect another album in a couple of years. And, new music always prompts conversations about performing the new material live. And, usually, all of them want to perform it live and are excited to do so. The planning and preparation part...not so much. In the end, I think Neil and his body are just worn down. He has pain and arthritis that he contends with while touring. He wants to go out on a high note when he's still able to play to his standards of excellence.
I wonder how that would work. 2 weekend shows for 10 weeks? If Rush did do a Vegas residency, I bet they would make crazy money.
I wonder if it might not be in San Diego instead? I think Neil wants to be able to drive home after the gigs and sleep in his own bed. But, who the hell knows?
Bump... I think I'm in love. You'll see why at about 0:34, just watch.... <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/_086mUWngSA?list=PLZizeBdVqFs9qlu4go2bp9fI1lHy9WEmY" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
I wonder what order that happened in. Drummer played to a click track then everyone else added? Girl's voice is annoying.
