Someone check to see if @Commodore is ok. Jury just awarded $45MM in punitives. Too damn low in my opinion if they are to suppress free speech.
This seems more of a libel or harassment issue than free speech. But I know the right will do anything to defend their own.
What is sadder about this is that those most conned by Alex Jones and others are the millions who watch his show and buy products that he hawks.
imagine knowingly making up lies about a horrible tragedy to the point the parents are receiving death threats and harassment while trying to mourn the loss of their child, and u continue to do it just completely heartless and a scumbag this is who mindless drone conservatives are rushing to defend
Not hard to believe. Just a few days ago I saw the Republican senators celebrating stripping veterans with cancer of their benefits. @MojoMan you got a cartoon for that?
The @Commodore i used to know thought it was great when sweaty ass Peter Thiel used defamation laws to shut down Gawker media, despite them simply - posting a video of a thing that actually happened - rather than making up a bunch of bullshit to sic their sicko followers on like Infowars. Maybe this guy isn't arguing in good faith?
Imagine defending him just because liberals (correctly) have a negative opinion about the guy. You'd think Alex Jones would be one topic where folks might be united. Some posters are for sure.
I don't want to see Jones in jail for what was displayed in court, but I do want it known that his guttertrash style of stoking the worst elements of society has a price.
Not saying Sandy Hook isn't the most horrible thing and Alex Jones is rightly paying the the price for pushing that lie. Just pointing out that many of those defending him have been conned by him.
I would love to see the calculation that came up with $4.1M in compensatory damages. What did Jones do to these people to cause such a loss? Even if calling them crisis actors somehow made them completely unemployable and drove them into therapy, that seems like a lot.
Another day, another jury decision against Alex Jones. The InfoWars head now owes two families of Sandy Hook victims $45.2 million in punitive damages. The judgment on Friday was handed down unanimously, as is custom of punitive damage rulings. Just the day prior, the Travis County jury had also ruled that Jones owed the parents of Sandy Hook victims $4.1 million, bringing the total amount of compensation owed to parents—who he once classified as paid actors and whose children’s existence he publicly doubted—$49.3 million.
Alex Jones is always the first person tyrants target, because they know he's unpopular. His banning was the start of the big tech censorship regime.
Are they conned? Or do they enjoy watching and buying his crap like alcohol? Or p*rn? They continue us to consume the lies, venom and shitty product because they like it. And they choose to do it.
