Of all the stars we have, Springer is the one more than any that I hope is a lifetime Astro

Obviously i'd love for Altuve, Correa, Keuchel to never play for another team either....but it would be really tough to watch Springer play for anyone else

Interesting article about what to expect from Bregman at Fangraphs and some possible comps based on the season he has had in AA/AAA so far. Pretty impressive list for the most part. They project a .269/.334/.434 slash line for him. Bregman seems to remind me of Evan Longoria in how they both were advanced college bats drafted as high picks. Also both played infield. Longoria was a SS that moved to 3B in College due to one Troy Tulowitzki already playing SS. Obviously the likelihood that Bregman will break into the league like Longoria did are low but I do see the similarities. Longoria had about twice the games/PA's in the minors as Bregman since he was drafted at Age 20 instead of 21 like Bregman. Both will be 22 on their debuts. I can't find Longoria's College stats but I believe he was pretty thin in college and filled out pretty well in the minors much like Bregman so the power came quickly in the minors. With the short porch in left field and the hard contact that Bregman makes I wouldn't be surprised if the power is real. Maybe not Evan Longoria real but it wouldn't be a surprise. Anyways, I will withhold anymore comps for now but that is what makes baseball and sports fun, rooting for a guy to be great.

Rank Mah Dist Name KATOH+ Actual WAR
    1 1.9 Adam Piatt 12.1 1.1
    2 3.2 Paul Konerko 18.1 7.5
    3 3.3 Michael Cuddyer 11.4 7.7
    4 3.4 Alex Gordon 21.9 21.0
    5 4.4 Evan Longoria 20.4 38.6
    6 5.1 Todd Walker 14.3 4.6
    7 5.5 Jim Thome 16.9 27.8
    8 5.5 Carlos Lee 9.4 17.8
    9 6.1 Bobby Crosby 11.5 8.1
    10 6.9 Brandon Wood 14.1 0.0

Longoria is an interesting comp. Bregman has a better hit tool but probably a tick less power and defense (compared to early Longo).

I don't understand your choice of Springer over Altuve. I don't get it. Altuve is the heart and soul of this team, the guy does everything and he's been a professional and a breath of fresh air since he was called-up.

Altuve's first 5 seasons remind me so much of Biggio. Altuve will go down as a Houston sports legend, I doubt the same can be said for Springer. Springer, for me, is more like Hunter Pence or Ken Caminiti.

Love Altuve, best player in baseball this year for sure

Just something about Springer and the way he carries himself that makes him my favorite...don't mean I don't love Altuve and want him here forever too

On espn Jim Bowden said that he had talked to lunhow and he, lunhow, said that once Gurriel is ready that he will play 3rd and Bregman will be in left field.

He's going to play 3b, LF, DH only. Maybe he gets a start at SS though I doubt it, probably use Correa instead.

    Calling out "The Beard"

    Release your curse on Bregman.

You wished in another thread he would go 0-5 to get called up.

You need to call the dogs off now :)

I just think he was saying that Springer is his favorite player, not the best player. It is OK for your favorite player on the team to not be the best. Heck, my wife's all time favorite Rocket is Shane Battier and she was seriously bummed when he left the team.
