you guys don't like Rasmus, gomez and Gattis swinging to come up empty? they're powerful swings! haters.
It goes beyond that even. Right now, against lefties, the Astros will be starting Marisnick in the OF and Worth at either DH or the infield (presuming Gattis is out for a bit). This is literally an embarrassing lineup against lefties... saved only by the amazingness of the top 3 offensive players they have.
It's as if people are already forgetting about last season, potentially falling out of the playoffs at the END of the season, while having no first baseman all year and Reed and White ripping the cover off the ball in the minors. I do think they bring him up soon, mainly because of them sticking him in left now, but...greater than zero chance he's not here till a year from now.
If Bregman isn't up now, he might not be up till September. Especially with Gurriel being ready in about a month.
I've rooted for Gomez, Rasmus, and Marisnick, but possibly having 2/3 of them in the lineup when every game counts is just beyond frustrating. How often did Tony Kemp play LF before we threw him out there a few times? I'm fully aware Bregman could come up and struggle, but I'm willing to take that chance when the alternatives are the same cast of characters.
there should be no reason for that. didn't he have reps in LF while in AA as well? Bottom line he should be up. DH him and play him at 3b when Valbuena is at 1b. its not rocket science people.
If this is about him getting more time at positions other than ss, Luhnow gets a solid F for not developing him properly. It's not like the thought that he might not be the ss just came up If he is down until next year for salary purposes then I'm out of words for what to say
Bregman has not played OF since HS summer leagues. BTW that must have been a hellofa team if they had a SS better than Bregman. The Astros FO wants to place Bregman into a position where he will succeed when he gets to the MLB. The Astros may want to wait until Bregman is comfortable in AAA LF before promoting him. That way, Bregman can concentrate on adjusting to MLB pitching and not have think about fielding LF.
Seriously, I usually understand why they decide to hold off calling people up, but I don't get this at all. He's done everything he possibly can to prove he is ready. He's hit at every level. He's handled all of the positions well. He's said all the right things. And this team could really use an extra bat to take them to the next level. There is literally no reason to keep him down. None whatsoever.
