I won't condone Mr. Baldwin for screaming at his own child. Master Baiter, RocketMan95, Rocket River... so far... I want you dudes on my team. We play SwoLy-Defense in this team instead of lazy offense. We prevent them from making baskets.
Wow, smart-ass. As I recall your wording, you said there was never a reason to yell at a child. Dunce cap is in the corner. Join your child. I'm sure he's a regular.
I have 5 sisters and 2 brothers that have a combined 25 children and I've been around to see each one of them raised. The best behaved set of kids in my family were raised by the sister that scolds them firmly, but never with profanity. If she ever slips up out of frustration (Although she is very short tempered, this rarely happens.), she IMMEDIATELY apologizes to them for using inappropriate language. What she does is set boundaries and let them know that they are NOT negotiable, she does not give in to their whining/cries, and if a good spanking is in order, she follows through with the threat. Her kids are VERY well behaved and definitely the most respectful out of all my nieces/nephews. It's definitely understandable that he would react like that to her actions, but I would hope that he atleast reasonably explains to her why he reacted like he did. It's not too big a deal though, she is 11/12 yo. I'm sure she's had worse language directed at her in school.
Child rearing and insults seems like the easy way out to raising kids. I grew up in a fairly strict dysfunctional family, and I don't think it works out the way parents plan it. At most, I get the sense where the parents tries to beat some sense (intentional pun) into the kid and hope for the best. It takes a lot more focus, discipline, and patience to get the right message out. The obvious reason people look into corporal punishment is because the message is carried out in grand and short periods instead of constant personal attention of the little things the kid does and what the kid sees from their parents. I also have to add that the message gets warped over time because the learning never stops. Who knows, in the future, maybe I'll look into the board of education if/when I'm at wits end with my kids. All I know is that I didn't enjoy it and it doesn't correct anything the kid doesn't want to correct.
