Morey will hold out till they toss Greg O into the deal. Then by the time Yao retires he will have all his injuries & surgeries done and be ready to play. Heck we might even have twin (but slow) towers for a year or two.
Miller is a good PG, gettin a bit up there in age, but I'd trust him during crunch time more than our current PGs. Just can't count on him for many more seasons I don't think. Miller for Battier? To me, it's not that bad of an offer. Certainly not as "OMGBBQ that is a stupid trade" as some have made it out to be. Certainly not as silly as people even mentioning the name Roy into this particular trade discussion. With all that said, we'd be overloaded at PG. Would have to move one of them.
After reading the posts in here, you'd think Battier was a perennial all star, rather than an average role player.
I want to trade battier, but this idea makes zero sense with brooks emergence. Miller is a better player than shane without a doubt, but that's not what the rox need in return. He should call the knicks and offer blake and the injured expiring contract for jeffries.
The only reason he's had good draft picks is because he has someone on the inside stealing morey's intel and wish list. =)
wouldn't be funny if the rockets got rudy, nic, and bayless for battier? roy, rockets tradeblocked by blazers on draft day rudy, rockets draftblocked by blazers batum, 3 way trade involving rockets, grizzlies, & blazers brandon rush, rockets discussed battier for rush trade, blazers won out pre-draft deal by offering to draft rush for bayless.
every single post in this thread should be deleted besides this one, and after that, the thread should be locked. cheers to you for being in the 2% of the rational and objective on here.
Really? You honestly think trading Miller for Battier is a good deal? Our point guards are sufficient, we need better wings, and that means you don't go trading them off, especially the Rockets leader right now. This would be an idiotic deal.
3 Way Trade? Houston Trades: Tracy McGrady, Brian Cook, Jermaine Taylor and Shane Battier Houston Receives: Jermaine O'Neal, Rudy Fernandez and Daequan Cook Portland Trades: Andre Miller and Rudy Fernandez Portland Receives: Shane Battier and Jermaine Taylor Miami Trades: Jermaine O'Neal and Daequan Cook Miami Receives: Tracy McGrady, Brian Cook and Andre Miller Why Houston does it: Houston does this if they actually have no interest in playing T-Mac. They get a big man in JONEAL, who has put up good numbers this season while being able to stay healthy most the time. They also receive young shooting guards in Cook and Fernandez. The Rockets lack real shooting guards and they would now be able to play Ariza and Budinger at SF. Why Portland does it: They lack wings at the moment and are able to pick one of the best defensive players in the game for a PG that they're trying to trade and shooting guard who has not played well this season. They also receive a young shooting guard who has the potential to be a good player in J Taylor. Why Miami does it: According to Yahoosports, Miami has been the team most interested in McGrady and the trade that makes most sense is JONEAL for T-Mac. Thats an even swap in most opinions and then they basically get Andre Miller, a good PG who will take pressure off of D-Wade, and a big man, Brian Cook, just in case one of their other big guys goes down for Daequan Cook. That seems pretty damn good to me. Houston Rockets C: Chuck Hayes/Jermaine O'Neal/David Andersen PF: Luis Scola/Carl Landry SF: Trevor Ariza/Chase Budinger SG: Rudy Fernandez/Daequan Cook PG: Aaron Brooks/Kyle Lowry Injured: Yao Ming D-League: Joey Dorsey That gives the Rockets two open spots on the roster. I assume they'd sign one player considering they already had 14. I think they'd take a long hard look at Mike Harris considering he has been tearing it up in the D-League for Rio Grande and could play the 3 or 4 and knows the Rockets offense well. Portland Trail Blazers C: Joel Pryzbilla/Dante Cunningham PF: Lamarcus Aldridge/Juwan Howard SF: Shane Battier/Martell Webster SG: Brandon Roy/Jermaine Taylor PG: Steve Blake/Jerryd Bayless Injured: Greg Oden, Travis Outlaw, Nicolas Batum, Jeff Pendergraph, Patrick Mills Travis Outlaw, Nicolas Batum and Jeff Pendergraph are all expected back some times this season and when they do return I assume it will look something like this... C: Joel Pryzbilla/Juwan Howard/Dante Cunningham PF: Lamarcus Aldridge/Travis Outlaw/Jeff Pendergraph SF: Shane Battier/Nicolas Batum SG: Brandon Roy/Martell Webster PG: Steve Blake/Jerryd Bayless Injured: Greg Oden, Patrick Mills If Oden hadn't gotten hurt, they'd be one of the scairest teams in the NBA. Still a very good team. Offense and defense. Batum would learn a lot from Battier. Miami Heat C: Udonis Haslem/Jamal Magloire/Shavlik Randolph PF: Michael Beasley/Joel Anthony/Brian Cook SF: Tracy McGrady/James Jones/Yakhouba Diawara SG: Dwayne Wade/Quentin Richardson/Dorrell Wright PG: Andre Miller/Mario Chalmers If Andre Miller, Dwayne Wade, T-Mac and Beasley can all learn to share the ball, that could be a deadly team. The only concern is the big men but Udonis Haslem can hold his own at Center and so can Magloire.
