If we were team without Yao in a lineup, I'll agree on such trade: Miller + Rudy - Ariza + Brooks + Cook, but Andy can't play with Yao, so... Taking Fernandez out of Portland will be an amazing Morey decision. This guy is new Manu Ginobili in every way of his game and having this kind of player for many, many years will be awesome. Dreams, sweet dreams...
an aging poor 3 pt shooter? no thank you just curious though. can you trade injured players?(bc you can't on games)
I've been wondering when something like this would surface. Expand the trade, maybe it'd work. No, I wouldn't take the deal straight up, but if Rudy had been healthy, I might have expanded it to include other players. Although Portland would ask for Aaron if we asked for Rudy (if he were healthy), and Aaron, besides being from near Portland, would be even more perfect for the Blazers than Rudy would be for us.
Yes I see your point BUT we don't need a PG. How much better do you think the Rockets will get with the subtraction of Shane and the addition of another old PG? We can do better than that for Shane, imo.
True, thats why I conceded Battier for Miller might not make sense straight up. The trade would have to include more players.
I agree with you, but when i looked around a bit I saw a lot of press in PDX about how Blake starts because B-Roy likes playing with him more than any of their other PG options. It's a testament to how much pull Brandon has that Blake is still starting, especially when Miller has been a positive for that team. If the losing starts causing drama up there, i think Miller will start getting more floor time.
I've also been thinking of Brooks + Battier for Miller, Fernandez as something both teams could consider. I don't agree that Miller for Battier is a steal, but unlike others in this thread, I think it's fair value. The problem is, as others have already pointed out, a one-for-one doesn't really make sense for us without further moves. It will be interesting to see if the Rockets do anything tomorrow or later after free agents signed in the summer can be traded.
I can't see this happening. IF Battier is traded, which is think is highly unlikely, it will take a lot more than that. Miller for Gortat seems like a decent trade for both teams.
I still don't see Morey pulling the trigger on that no matter how many players Prick-Pritchard throws in. You know he's not getting rid of the young guns he has injured and we don't need Miller unless he throws in 1st round picks in some sort of package. Either way I have a hard time believing a trade will go down for Battier that includes Miller.
If Lowry is our future at the PG spot, Miller would be the perfect mentor for him. Brooks + Battier + Dorsey for Miller + Rudy + Mills? Brooks returns to Oregon and we get a similar player in return in Mills along with a legit SG in Rudy. Miller starts and Lowry can pick up a few more tricks by practicing against him and watching him play. We would also reduce our payroll by several hundred thousand this season.
Miller is just a bad fit for the club, trying to trade him does not take away from his undeniable skills as a PG.
our pgs are young, miller is not. That alone doesnt make sense. non of their swingmen, unless you include roy, is worth acquiring at the expense of getting way older at the point and have nothing to show for it in a year. Miller will probablly leave as a free agent.
I agree, he's good (not Carl Landry good, but who is?). But he's not so good that we ought to give them Battier and then try to trade away Brooks or Lowry, two young guys growing by the game. I guess we could package one of them in with TMac's contract, but it's looking fairly unlikely that McGrady is going to be traded. I just don't see management trading away one of our young points to accommodate a (talented) journeyman like Andre Miller in a year when we aren't going to contend.
