yep, and a lot more than it, co-existence of read and react system and a ball hogging guard, "better fit" and "put the ball in the best players hand" theory, bev better defense, all exposed. fact is the best evidence so no need to argue on this board anymore, hope this series can teach this organization and their fans something so they can wake up from their fantasy.
Exactly, I'm not even going to waste my time debating it anymore. I did for a while earlier this year and I got responses that showed how out of touch people really are.
Yes, of course, Aldridge is disproving Maury's theory, but people shouldn't have needed to see this in order to realize that just jacking up a bunch of 3s, hoping to get a bunch of layups, and playing an uptempo/freelance style wasn't going to be successful for this group in the playoffs. Many people on here warned about the dangers of such an approach only to be shouted down by the masses. But, but, but what about the Phoenix Suns? They had much more talent, better coaching, and an mvp playing on that team. The coaching staff and the team Maury has assembled disproves his theory as well. He needs to be held accountable as much as McFail and the players.
oh and the biggest elephant in the room, the artificial "superstar". you cant just fabricate one by ball hogging plus media propaganda, he is soft in D and his O live and die on whistle-- not that type u can rely on.
Harden was pretty decent from mid range this season. And yes you can have all of them to work on the mid range shot. We have to employ that into our offense next season. Post the podcast
We are 11-51 from three Portland is 17-50 They may not be lighting it up, but that difference is pretty pronounced.
In Game One, Jeremy Lin almost pulled out the game with his midrange game.... In Game Two, Jeremy Lin did not attempt one midrange shot.
I noticed everytime LMA sets a pick, howard or Asik switched. Instead they need to stay on LMA and give up the open look or lane to the basket because the % of LMA making a wide open jumper or rolling for an easy lay up is a much higher % shot than what anyone else has.
It all looks great when Aldridge hits every shot he takes. He has been in god mode in this series. Rockets win if he comes back to Earth. Better defense wouldn't hurt either.
A healthy mid-range game creates problems for defenses. It creates space for layups and 3s. The way the Rockets play is so predictable that defenses pack it in when someone drives the lane or stay at home on a 3 pt shooter. LaMarcus Aldridge might get the entire Houston brass fired, because Portland is clearly employing analytics more effectively.
BINGO!!!!! Layups and threes are most efficient IN THE FLOW OF A NORMAL OFFENSE. If you just shoot those, and don't do anything else, you're fortunate to even be in the game.
If anyone's played any league game, you should know it's easy as hell to deny 3 ball and paint game. All you have to do is switch and run back to pack the paint with the big guy whenever it comes. But when it comes to someone who dominates midrange, it's nearly impossible to stop that game unless you double him. In conclusion, Rocket game is predictable and easy, while Blazers game with LMA shooting lights out is impossible.
It's fcking sad that 1 superstar from Portland can literally owned the entire Houston team while 2 of the Houston's stars are not enough to get the job done.
I can sympathize with you. I have given up discussing the Rockets for a long time now. I have not posted on this board for a very long time since many here have anointed Morey, a statistician, as a basketball god.
It is pure and simple basketball. Analytics has so many limitations when it comes to how human beings think and act in pressure situations such as the NBA playoffs.
