Anything and everything Jimi Hendrix. I grew up learning to play guitar by listening to 80's players so I really didn't appreciate Hendrix growing up. Now, he''s god.
Grey Album from DJ Dangermouse I always knew about it just never really listened to it yet until recently since he's relatively famous now because of Gnarls Barkley. For those who don't know, it mixes Jay-Z's Black Album with the Beatles.
I wonder if it's at iTunes. If not, I'll go to Waterloo and get it by hook or by crook. Probably should give them the business anyway. Thanks!
Ha. I did the ssame with Sophtware Slump. 90's independent music, specifically Grandaddy, is severely underrated. Yep, the one in Bushnell. It's going on as I type this, which is quite depressing, but I vowed to never miss it again.
Edgar Winter Group "They Only Come Out at Night" Found it in the clearance rack at Half Price Books for $2.
David Bowie - The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars I know it's a classic anyway so it's hard to "lose", but every time I happen to find it lying around and put it in the CD player, it stays there for about a week.
I love the CD I started playing back through all my old CD's that I hadn't played in years -- today I was listening to : Harry Chapin: Greatest Stories Live I remember now why I love that album so much.
Good pick - that album along with "Hunky Dory", "Aladdin Sane", and "Diamond Dogs" are probably my 4 favorite Bowie albums.
Grateful Dead - "American Beauty" Miles Davis - "Milestones" And yes....we're talking LP vinyl here people!
I recently installed a receiver and some speakers out by a friends pool. At a party Saturday night I had my laptop hooked up and we had a shuffle of a bunch of different music going. Later that evening (2 am or so) when we started playing poker we wanted something mellow and not distracting. I switched from Shuffle to straight play and put on Animals by Pink Floyd, we then went with Obscured by the clouds, Meddle and finally Darkside of the moon. It was great to listen to these albums straight through and they really set the mood. I won both games also so I think I'll go with the Floyd next time I break out the chips.
Odelay. Some songs stand up 10 years out. Mostly it's a map for a ton of **** that it has since influenced, be it production, lyrics or commerical/culture-y stuff.
