Sucks for Ashby, he seems like a good guy. He was terrible on the radio though, so I can't get too worked up about it.

Hope the new guys are good. Milo can have his swan song this season & then maybe Houston can have a listenable radio broadcast for the first time in years.

Isn't Milo only doing home games next year? Does that have something to do with it?

The Astros are similar to Russia when Stalin was in charge when it comes to free speech: even look like you're not happy and it's off to Siberia for you or the Phillies/Tampa Bay if you're associated with MLB. Ash got a raw deal and just in time for a wonderful X-mas gift. Bad move for the Stros. :(

    Nothing surprises me anymore, honestly.

I do know I would have a hard time rooting for a team if I compared the management to Stalin. Maybe it's time he went and rooted for a non-commie team.

Well it looks like Ash was surprised. Stalin might be stretching it a bit maybe Drayton is closer to Castro when it comes to suppressing free speech.

You "guys"? I never said Ash wasn't a homer, but he questioned Garner's moves often enough that it was noticeable. I like having someone in the booth who provides critical analysis on occasion, especially when he's reading my mind. I agree comparing Ash to Billy "The Jerk" Wagner is a stretch.

At this point, nobody here knows why Ash was cut. Hopefully we'll find out. Bringing in 2 new guys to work with a part-time & past his prime 78 year-old Milo is a big risk. I think most of us agree Milo is pretty far gone and for the Astros to say he will "mentor" these guys and they will "learn a great deal" from him is an insult to my intelligence. What a joke!

The bottom line is it's Drayton's team. He's the one with a financial stake in the outcome. Ash was good, not great. I just got XM Radio and if the new guys don't cut it, I'll listen to another MLB game. This could be another nail in the coffin for local radio, for me at least. 610 "All Texans all the time" radio is awful besides Matt & Adam, AM790 is pathetic and Clear Channel has completely ruined 740 & 950. Bye bye.

As I said in another thread....Ashby was no Gene Elston....so I am willing to give these new guys a try.

Milo must go however he is getting Harry Carrey esque.
