This was destroyed when you first brought it up... and you brought it up with certainty and no small amount of glee. Now, you're trying to weasel out of this... you own it bud.

but on a serious note, i'd probably back the other candidate too, if i knew he wasnt going to come after me....i'd also tell him that the battleground for terrorism was somewhere else....perhaps, Iraq. i mean if a country was trying to capture and kill me, why would i say where my group is training and getting stronger everyday?

 

I almost feel bad for McCain if the national media makes a big story out of this. Can you imagine a headline "Al-Qaida Supports McCain" as the top story on CNN or Yahoo!? Talk about a Titanic-size sinking.

Someone seriously needs to photoshop that Minister of Defense with McCain's face: "We are still ahead! Victory is in sight!"

They brought it own themselves by arguing for years when it was politically convenient for them to do so that we should take the terrorists at their word.

And by the way, if Obama is a terrorist, it's another example of the utter incompetence of the Bush administration.

 

I don't think the media will give it much play. They have helped and will help to keep perpetuating the myth that McCain is strong on foreign policy.

 

This is an easy charge to counter, if the McCain campaign was inclined to bring it up.

They just say that Al-Qaida really wants Obama to win, and they purposely "endorsed' McCain knowing that it would only hurt him in the eyes of the American public. Al-Qaida wouldn't be so stupid to actually publicly endorse a candidate they want in the White House.

But they didn't publicly endorse... this conversation was behind a password protected firewall. Hard to spin that... particularly when your party has repeatedly used the argument that we should take the statements of terrorists literally and used that argument to score political points against Dems.

 

And they also argued that we should take the endorsement of Hamas literally.

Good point. I mistakenly thought this was one of those official Al Qaida propaganda tapes sent to a news station. It's still possible that whoever wrote those comments was calculating that it would eventually be spread in the American press and impact the elections -- though I think its less likely.

Also, is this just the opinion of some posters on the website, or is it a consensus Al Qaida view. Just like posters here have a range of opinions, that could be the case for them as well.
