This is incredible. It's like when I had a pet chicken for a while, and it was running around a lot, being chased by my dogs. Who would've thought the solution was to rip it in 3 parts and feed it to my 3 dogs? That way, I could avoid the headache of having to help it all the time.
I'd like to play an Iranian or Afghani woman who gets pregnant out of wedlock, although then I get to chose between stoning, hanging or public beheading.
IN addition to the longstanding Shia v. Sunni conflict I remember reading that Hezbollah since they successfully held off Israel has gained much more prominence in the Muslim World and that Al Qaeda feels this is coming at the costs of their own prominence.
There is definitely that aspect to it. There isn't a more popular individual in the region right now than Hassan Nasrallah, and this applies to Sunnis and Shi'ites alike. On the other end, Al-Qaeda's support is not only dwindling, but judging by some op-ed pieces in some of the local papers in the region, there is growing hostility among Sunnis/Shi'ites alike to all things Al-Qaeda. One of the articles lambasted Al-Qaeda for their 'destructive and divisive' rhetorical attacks against Hezbollah and Nasrallah (Al-Qaeda now calls him "Nasr Allat", which is a reference most Muslims would get) and their declaration of Shi'ites as "unbelievers" and "enemies of Islam." Moreover, their vicious and inhumane attacks against innocents in Iraq -- mostly because they're Shi'ites -- haven't gone unnoticed. Not only that, but there have been Sunni insurgent groups in Iraq itself that have threatened to go after Al-Qaeda members for attacking innocent people and other civilian/religious targets.
which is why we all need to understand the complexities and nuances of the region instead of the simplistic false-dichotomous drivel that this administration spews.
