Major props to somebody if they can one day invent a knee brace that can help prevent or reduce any awkward twisting/bending of the knee that also won't hinder your mobility or turn you into Robocop. You'll sell a lot of those in the NBA.
How about something that have a sensor in it that can monitor the extent of twisting/bending. If it is approaching the dangerous threshold the brace will be activated immediately and harden up to prevent further twisting/bending. At all the other times the brace will just remain soft and flexible.
These days players do make full recoveries from torn ACLs. Hopefully AJ comes back at full strength next year. But yes, we are not gonna see him again this season.
It might be possible. Sports medicine has come a long way. 50 years ago a torn ACL was the death sentence to a basektball player's career.
omg...torn acl...i feel sick right now...such a good player and a good person, this shouldn't have happeneed
And NFL. Every time I see something similar to Deuce McCallister blowing out his knee landing on one leg and kicking his other leg forward, I cringe.
To all Al Jefferson fantasy owners (including myself)...I feel your pain! He was a top 10 fantasy player fo sho!
There are DonJoy knee braces out there. Many linemen (both in college and in the nfl) wear them for the reasons you mentioned, but they're too bulky and restrictive for skilled players to wear them.
