The Hawks' thinking must be that Millsap will bolt in free agency next summer. His contract in 2017 may dwarf Horford's and Dwight's deals.
Yep, that's why i'm not that high on Millsap here, i mean, he's very good but, 32 years old, expiring his next contract can be huge for a 33 years old player... I also think that they probably like Horford more cause he can play center, especially with Dwight you may want a guy who's able to play that spot if Dwight needs to be taken out when he's not hitting free throws.
Millsap is actually the perfect player to get here. The contract and age situation shouldnt really effect any decision since next years free agent crop is sick. We can use him for this year he is still a GREAT player on both ends. Can bring alot of qualities this rocket team needs...toughness, versatility, playmaking, rebounding, outside shooting from a big. Him and harden would be a nice duo i would like to find a way to bring him here for sure
And i agree with basically everything, but still...32 years old expiring who's going to ask what? 30/35x4? Eh...
iam not sure about this but if we trade for him cant we sign him over the cap next year? So maybe it can work to our advantage somehow, but for this year to be a relevant team we need to add an allstar caliber player and he fits the bill. I like getting good players for what should be way below market value

200 million wrapped up in front court players 30 years old, one injury prone. Also no back up pg. Great thinking Atlanta
Al Horford reportedly not happy with Dwight Howard signing What did we offer Horford and how much cap space do we have after the Anderson signing?
lmao so I just read that the hawks still plan on trying to resign horford even though they signed dwight. They rather trade millsap. This makes no sense because millsap is the better player.
Horford is not happy with the Hawks signing Dwight. The Dwight signing may backfire on the hawks if Horford signs somewhere else, which he is more likely to do after the Dwight signing. Hope this makes the Rockets pitch more appealing and that the Rockets have not given up hope on signing Horford. I think it is worth it to wait for Horford to make up his mind before pursuing other free agents.
