So is mine and I'm much more Earth-friendly. On the other hand, what the heck does that have to do with anything? Okay I'll give him twice the allotment but 19 times??!!

    Silly person.

Don't you know - Thou Shalt Not Question His Most High Holiness ALGORE ?

He was sent to save the planet, question not His methods, insignificant person!

And especially pay no attention to the court in Europe (of all places) which found His High Holiness guilty of fraud and deliberate misrepresentation in his filmed slide show...

    Ignore that!

All bought from renewable energy. And the home has solar panels, too (although I do not know the percentage of power they supply).

Really. Can we let this silly argument go already? It's so dumb.

Is your home office even remotely comparable to Al Gore's?

Of course not, but still I'm enviro-friendly! I try to trod a light path on this Earth. Just because I could use more energy doesn't mean that I should.

So we have a Titanic struggle between the GOP "hitmen" and the DEM "apologists"... what's new?

Face it, it takes money to Go Green. Most people can't afford it; Al Gore can. Good for him, but he should stop pointing accusing fingers at Joe and Shirley Lunchbucket.

But you're ignoring what he's doing to make his footsteps a little lighter as well. You can't just say he's using more than most people and assume it's waste. He's not living in some 30,000 sq. foot mansion leaving all the lights on while he's surfing the internet all day. I'm not sure how many workers there are at his residence, but I'm guessing it's more than you have at yours. :)

Please, let's not discuss the plan presented -- let's just bash Gore and his home then and sit back and read all the insightful responses defending Al and solar powered wonder house.

When the environmentalists want governments to FORCE people to make lifestyle changes in order to suit their own desires, it amounts to the same thing.

Incidentally, how many of the outfits selling 'carbon offsets' exist overseas? In third world countries even?

I still don't understand though - if I take $100 and buy a 'carbon offset', where does that money GO (it's got to go *somewhere*), and what have I bought besides... nothing?

it goes to your electric company who either a) produced the power from a renewable source itself, or b) eventually to a power company that did, that your power company bought a credit from.

what do these things existing overseas have anything to do with?

Apologies for staying out of the fray for so long, but I had doctor's appointments I had to keep lest they hospitalize me again.

    1) I haven't seen anybody prove giddyup wrong as of yet.

    2) Nero has had some salient observations / questions on "offsets."

So I assume you're against current clean air and water protections? We wouldn't want the government forcing anything like that down our throats, would we?

It goes to whoever you bought it from.

Do you have any evidence for this assertion?

    what's not sufficient

he asked where the money goes, I answered that directly, reguardless of your opinion LOL

it goes to a company that produced the electricity from a renewable source, either his, or from a company that his power company bought a renewable energy credit from, what's so hard to understand, what's no sufficient, if that's not suffice, look the info up yourself,

I can't make it anymore basic
