It took you under 5 minutes from the previous post on where to find more information to post a retort from a "Computer consultant and occasional travel photographer". One guy vs. tens of thousands of scientists who... you know what... Nevermind.
It's not thousands, in fact the nubmer is probably in the hundreds or less among professional climate scientists. And even that number is generous. A number of the scientists you cited in your quips don't even come close to espousing or supporting a view that "man made global warming is a scam!" - rather they will take issue with certain findings as to the rate of GW or a few small sub-topics. That doesn't include the non-scientists you cite, such as: That's probably the most embarrassing thing you've written yet. It's like saying that we should look to Harrison Ford in order to obtain a definitive translation of pre-Colombian pictographs and glyphs.
You've got me there. John Coleman's only worked in his field for 51 years. What the hell could he possibly know?
But you aren't going with the Scientists, the people who actually study the climate overwhelmingly believe man is influencing climate change. Your petition is a joke, like I said, it isn't comprised of people who actually study the climate. It's filled with joke names like John Grisham and Spice Girl, plus it's been around since 1999 so there are some people who have signed it twice or more. If you don't want to believe it, fine, but don't act like science is on your side, it isn't. If you want to keep telling us that you will go with Dr. Spice Girl, that's your deal. But remember, you said you were listening and when I pointed out what was wrong with that petition, you completely ignored it while I actually took time to look over the list and read some articles about it.
Thanks for this response. These 2 explain a lot and make sense. As I mentioned, I would expect his output to be higher than the norm. I suppose we should compare it moreso to a small office complex or something.
This whole carbon neutral thing is just one big load of crap. So anyone has money can use any much energy as he/she can as long as they are paying for the "carbon credits"?
Gore pays extra to make sure his energy comes from renewable resources like solar and wind power. BIG difference between that and carbon credits. He does purchase credits to offset the use of his jet, but that money goes to carbon neutralizing activities like planting trees.
"Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt." Abraham Lincoln
So you can't be as green as Gore if you don't pay extra Its not just him, seems to me paying for carbon credits is an easy way out if you want to be "green" and live the lifestyle you want. How about plant trees AND not fly private jets.
This thread isn't about carbon credits and private jets - it's about paying extra for renewable energy to power your house.
No, reducing your carbon footprint is more expensive, as is eating healthier. Carbon is still the cheapest way to fuel our cars, light our homes, and do anything else that requires energy. It takes a heck of a man to choose to pay more to engage in activities that other people do as cheaply as possible. He does it because he believes in his cause, not because he is being forced to. Nobody is forcing him to even pay for the credits. He wants to be green so he digs into his wallet and puts his money where his mouth is. When you are on the forefront of a worldwide discussion about global climate change, you have to get around the world somehow, don't you? He has the money for a private jet and then ponies up more money for carbon credits to offset that energy use. I don't see how you can possibly twist that in your mind to be a bad thing.
He does it to increase the economy of scale in switching over to green energy. Thus, because he now does it, it will become cheaper for you and eventually the norm for everyone. I do the same: http://www.pacificpower.net/Homepage/Homepage58962.html and...
this thread proves one thing, people will complain about any damn thing. gore spends extra money to do his part, while trying to maintain his public status to further his cause, and you complain that he ain't planting trees? and then you threw in the unfreakinbelievable stupidity
Except it is in his interest to appear as green as possible, he is in the business of this movement, how much money he makes is directly related to the image he projects. Carbon neutral does not equal to energy conservation, you can waste as much energy as you can as long as the money is there to pay for the carbon credits. There is a disconnect when people flying around in private jets telling the rest to stop driving SUVs. I am pretty sure you can get around the world flying commercial, first class seats aren't all that bad you know.
I guess this is another fool speaking out: http://www.rightsidenews.com/200806...-the-worst-scientific-scandal-in-history.html
dude, do you really think its logical for a former vice president to be flying on the same continental flight as you. seriously?
