    Bummer.

I guess you win Hakeem. Thanks for making me aware of this "matter of fact".

I'd be happy to continue responding, but I'm beginning to think that you're not the type to listen.

    *shakes head*

I am not denying that all of these things are happening. I am disagreeing with the method of explaining the phenomenon. Yes "Europe to cool because the melting of the ice caps would throw off the gulf stream" but was it global warming that ended the ice age?

With all due respect, considering that I have a 10 year old daughter, and a 15 year old son, who have a host of cousins, aunts, and uncles in the Netherlands and Louisiana, two places very likely to go under water over the next few decades (and I'm not talking about NOLA, but a huge chunk of the state... hell, a huge chunk of the Gulf Coast, including Houiston/Galveston), I'd like for the two of them, and my future grandkids, and great-grandkids, to be able to enjoy a world that at least resembles the one in which I grew up, and the one existing today. I don't want to speed up anything. We don't have to worry about speeding things up, anyway. Disaster is well on it's way. The best we can hope for is to make a huge effort that might, just might, limit the damage.

In my opinion, of course. Al Gore didn't convince me of where the world is headed with his film, because I already knew, but he makes a damned fine explanation of what is going on for the vast majority, who are more worried about their kids, their credit card bills, and their mortgage, then how their own government's policies are speeding up global disaster.

    Keep D&D Civil.

Oooh, do you feel like a bigger person now that you think you insulted me? I wish I had infinite wisdom, unfortunately, only God has that. What does Hakeem's beliefs have to do with me? What does all of this have to do with the subject at hand? If you have nothing intelligent to add to the conversation instead of bashing me personally, you really should turn your computer off stop while you are ahead. I have read the Quran and the Bible, can you say that?

Don't make assumptions. I happen to be a very nice and intelligent woman who just happens to disagree with you. I think you are the one who won't listen. I never meant to start a feud with you, I was hoping for a civil swap of ideas. My calling Al Gore a jacka** did not constitute what I received.

My entire family lost everything they had and we had pets die because they lived in Jefferson Parish. I think I am pretty damned knowledgeable on that.

All right then, I'll keep playing - just undertand that it is rather difficult to debate with someone who believes in a fated utter destruction of the earth - particularly someone who is looking forward to it.

"my point is that your whole argument is based upon the fact that the day of reckoning is coming and that you, unlike rhad, hakeem, and me, are prepared because you are a christian. "

And how did I say that? I have never said that I was right because I am a Christian. No one knows which beliefs are right so to hold one religion higher than another is not morally correct.

"you are intolerant and closed-minded about any fact that contradicts your worldview, which, i might add, is typical, cliched religious right propaganda."

Okay, now this has offended me. How dare you. YOU guys bashing me are the intolerant ones. I am quite open-minded and open to other's ideas. Just because I disagree does not make me prone to propaganda. I should never have brought up my religion but I thought it would shed some light as to why I feel the way I do. I never meant for it to turn into a religious war topic. I really think you should retract your statement because you are way of base and completely out of line.

So, to get back on topic and off of me, Al Gore for president.

I see now that I actually should have gone with my gut instinct to not get involved in and D&D discussions for the simple fact of me being made out to be the bad guy. I am not for Gore for President therefore I should have kept my opinions to myself. Sorry you guys, I will never speak my mind again outside of sports.

    Let's try again.

Global warming is not weather, nor is it temperature.
Temperature is not weather, nor is it global warming.
Weather is not global warming, nor is it temperature.

These are three distinct, related things. When you say weather is cyclical, you may be correct (I'm not a meteorologist). However, cycical weather patterns are not indicative of temperature or global warming (meteorologists are not climatologists).

You can hypothesize that global warming is cyclical too, based on the pattern of ice ages. However, this does not address the atypical increase in CO2 and temperature within the last 100 years. We are discussing global warming, not large scale historical climate science right? This is the distinction.

    That was the point.

Except for your poor use of the term "weather" and your assertion that a human link is "speculation". Come to think of it, you disagreed with that latter point yourself:

"Yes, I have already plainly admitted that humans are somewhat responsible for the destruction of our world."

No. Anthropogenic sources of global warming emissions are the point here, not natural occurences of CO2 from volcanoes or massive increases in water vapor from melting glacial ice. Minor variations do NOT explain current trends.

Are you debating that methane is a worse greenhouse gas then CO2? I suggest you read a science textbook and get familiar with the infared absorptive capability of heteronuclear molecules.

A graph is perfectly acceptable. Or as you call them, "lovely pics".

And thanks for not putting more words in my mouth this time - I'm much abliged.
