    You forgot to pan.

Christ-like? No, but then who is? Regardless of whether an indivdual agreed with his politics, few would disagree that Reagan genuinely liked we the people. I had the pleasure of meeting him, as I did Lyndon Johnson, Richard Nixon, Gerald Ford, Jimmy Carter and George Bush the Elder. All were impressive personalities, each in his own way.

I purposely avoided referring to presidential politics of the 80s or later in a vain attempt to prevent the nitpicking that generally afflicts these threads. Sadly, as usual in the D&D, an attempted dialogue of ideas becomes hostage to those of the ideologue.

I was a firm believer in Global Warming until I found out that jacka** was behind it. Don't you know that the symptoms of Global Warming, the war in Afghanistan and the drug epidemic are all Bush's fault? Oh wait, it's El Nino's fault. Oh wait, it's got to be gravity's fault.

Global warming is a multi-generational, multi-nation, multi-party tragedy that we have all had a part in... the question is not who's to blame for the problem... the question is who's working to fix the problem. In response to that question, I think Bush deserves all the criticism thrown his way.

i wasn't gonna bother responding to his post. you said it way better than i would have anyway. i agree 100%, what are we gonna do about it? even small steps are better than going backwards. bush just either doesn't get it ot doesn't care.

I must edit to add: I was the biggest supporter of Global Warming since I was in high school. It's a bunch of hooey. Our planet's weather and temperatures come in cycles. Look back at 1956 (I will double check my year and get edit if I am mistaken on that) and tell me how it differed with today. Yes, humans are killing the planet. We all know that. Those beehive hairdos probably started the hole in the ozone. But it is scientifically proven that our weather goes in cycles.

What, in my post, leads you to think that? Is it because I think the Federal Government should be involved in tacklng problems of global consequence? Or is it because I think Bush deserves some criticism for not acting? Or perhaps something else?

Nobody denies weather goes in cycles. The question before us is whether human actions are intensifying those cycles or altering them altogether. The scientific consensus is that human actions are affecting the global climate and those actions are leading to global warming.

Please don't talk about things you know nothing about.

    1) It's not "weather". It's greenhouse gases and the associated increase in infared radiation trapped in the atmosphere.

    2) Nothing about greenhouse gases is cyclical. Minor variations due to natural influences (volcanoes) and man-made influences (environmental regulation in the 60s and 70s) can make small changes. But the overall trend is obvious to all but those with a vested interest in pretending it does not exist.

Please don't talk about scientific "proof" when you are obviously unfamiliar with the scientific data in question, not to mention predisposed to changing your views for simple partisan idiocy.

It is not scientific fact, it is still speculation.

Um, excuse you; Global Warming does deal with weather. How the heck could it not? You have no idea what I know so you need to keep your opinions about me to yourself. If YOU knew anything, greenhouse gases affecting the environment play a crucial role in our weather patterns. To blame mankind solely for the deterioration of the planet is an unintelligent thing to say. What about the gases from cow farts? I am not trying to be funny when I say that, but it's true. Yes, I have already plainly admitted that humans are somewhat responsible for the destruction of our world. But to say that our adjusting climate has nothing to do with it is just plain ridiculous. "Please don't talk about scientific "proof" when you are obviously unfamiliar with the scientific data in question, not to mention predisposed to changing your views for simple partisan idiocy."--Although you worded that quite intelligently, but what I decide to base my opinions on is none of anyone's business. You are wrong as a matter of fact. Bash my idea about global warming, that's fine, but don't you EVER insult my intelligence. You don't know me from Eve so keep it to yourself. Lovely images, your point is?

No, I think people aren't taking into consideration that this world is meant to self-destruct and we as humans are just speeding up the process.
