What a total crock. Al Gore has been resoundingly repudiated by the scientific community for his gross exaggerations in his docudrama. What a mindless Hollywood driven culture we live in. Let's face it, sensationalism sells, and that's the lies on which Gore's movie gained popularity. What's just hilarious about it all is that the guy refuses to debate anyone on the issue. How's that for a lack of confidence in your substance... This award just lost all legitimacy.
Gore's extreme enviornmental position will get him a peace prize, but it won't get him the votes he would need. Fact is, if president, he'd actually have to enact all what he has preached, and that would hurt many people and result in a lot of lost jobs. Meanwhile, the amount of greenhouse gases would still increase despite anything GOre could do because of India and China just pumping away. Gore is a nice idealist, but a pragmaticist he is not. Best for him to stick to preaching and winning awards, not actually setting policy that would be a disaster for America.
And Kissinger. What's your point? oh that's right he was a republican Once again some people would rather put party ahead of country. Why can't you people be happy for an American?
I admire your thinking. It's amazing how people can easily deny good things by covering them with political parties.
I disagree strongly on principle with Al Gore's 'analysis' of 'global warming'. I believe he has grossly exaggerated points in an effort to scare people and demagogue an issue (play on their emotions). I feel like he has mixed politics and science in a contemptible manner. I feel like making a movie is perhaps the lowest, most disingenuous, and most intellectually dishonest method of advancing scientific thought. It's a way to avoid the hard questions, avoid the critical thinkers, and offer no chance for dialogue. This story has played according to this thinking, as Gore has steadfastly refused to grant debates on the topic. Were you happy for Carlos Boozer, an American, when he eliminated the Rockets last playoffs?

substitute Gore w/ Bush... substitute global warming w/ Iraq War... substitute science w/ national security... subtract the sentence about the movie bc there is no movie yet...
as a bush supporter, it seems like this kind of stuff would be right up your alley. mushroom clouds, anyone? color-coded terror alerts, anyone? as for gore and his award, congratulations i guess. havent seen the movie and im in the "global warming is mainly due to natural causes" camp. of course human activity has an impact, but isnt like 90% of carbon emissions due to naturally occurring events? man-bear-pig faints!
he and his family friends have been doing quite well, so yes. unfortunately, what is good for bush is bad for america.
