I don't know about Akron but several PD's have regulations against high speed chases due to the danger to civilians. The rules in MPD are not to chase but radio ahead and use traffic control measures or trace the plate and other information to track the suspect down later.
I've watched the video twice now including at full screen and I still can't see where Walker shoots at the LE
You're right. I thought about that. Maybe that's a general rule because I think that happens with police shootings we see sometimes This is my thought process. Most controversial police encounters don't involve this many cops. If the shooting is deemed justified then it's not excessive because I'm sure there is no heirarchy if a shooting is necessary as far as who shoots. I know cops are under scrutiny but they obviously all thought dude was dangerous. I don't care what you think of cops they all aren't bad when this many show up. So there will be an investigation on if he shot first
This is a terrible situation but again completely avoidable. First it's a traffic stop just find a spot and stop on the side of the road. Best case they don't find the gun or it's properly registered (lol) or you go to jail and live another day. Second, if you get in a chase don't shoot at the cops and third don't run away in a ski mask and turn quickly at 10 or so cops in a threatening manner. Follow the Chris Rock rules to dealing with the police...
I can't believe people who run are just stupid. However we've seen it. The kid who the cop shot after a struggle where the cop shot him in the head Everyone has to acknowledge its the first mistake. Not a blanket justification but I see so many posters just ignore it
It would be a lot easier to just accept the speeding ticket I mean I had a few, so take some defensive driving And you’ll get that wiped off your record
I’m going to go do my doordash gig now, got the car filled with gas, my ski mask, got my glock. Hope no one annoys me or tries to stop me for blowing past those pesky dumb stop signs. If I get shot 60 times. Please don’t blame the cops legal disclaimer: this post was made in jest but my point is delivered
If the guy really did shoot at the cops, I cannot see fault in what happened here, unfortunately. A lot of questions need to be answered though. Did he actually shoot at the police? How did that gun end up in his car? Were the police simply trigger happy? How can we better train them from a tactical standpoint, because from what I've read, they're lucky others didn't get shot? And, perhaps, in a weird way, most importantly, why was this dude wearing a ski mask in the middle of summer while running from the cops? I fault no one right now. Let the dust settle. Plenty of questions to be answered, and I think anyone protesting on the streets right now is overreacting, to be totally frank.
