    Things that you're skipping over:
    1. As others noted, this doesn't seem like a big deal to you because....it didn't affect you. You have to put yourself in Cleveland's shoes. The Dream to Raps scenario isn't comparable - this would have been in his prime Dream quitting and forcing a trade (almost happened) just before the championships in 1992.

    2. This isn't just a star leaving for a new team like Amare. This isn't even a franchise guy leaving for another team (McGrady to Rockets). This isn't even a franchise guy leaving for another team after taking the squad to the brink of a championship (Shaq to Lakers).
This is a homegrown franchise guy.
This is (generally accepted) the best player in the league.
This is probably one of the top 3 players to ever play at his position.
This could be one of the top 10 players of all-time.
This is the the best player to ever play in this city, regardless of sport.
This is a city that has almost nothing good going for it, sports or otherwise.
Again, all this and he is a native son.
LeBron James meant the world to this city. His presence brought a positive spotlight onto the city. Without him, Cleveland returns the the bottom tier of US major cities, along with Detroit.

I hope the city gives him hell. His right to leave, their right to feel deeply betrayed and bitter. Especially since it's clear he quit and left the team halfway through the Boston series.

I know I will. One of two times I wanted to cry watching a sporting event, the other was the 2003 NBA draft lottery. Bad times... :(

if lebron got injured the next year and struggled to come back, cavs would ship him out with the quickness.

this is a business. lebron fulfilled his contract. he did what he had to do outside of a championship for cleveland basketball.

lebron needed another all-star. he never got one. so he left to find one (or two).

You're high. Look at how tightly the Rockets hold onto Yao, despite his inability to stay on the court. You honestly think the Cavs would drop LeBron if he had the first injury of his career? Let's stay real here.

It's sports and life goes on after sports.

Some people take sports way to serious as a fan. With all that passion you have to wonder why some of those people were never athletes.

no kidding. Its not like the cavaliers made some great dynasty team and LBJ jumped ship for no reason whatsoever. Let's see how far Antwan Jamison takes them this year

Of course LBJ was a dick for raking the city through the hot coals like that. If he had done it in a classy manner most of the blame would have shifted to Danny Ferry and his inept management. Calling him a "traitor" or whatever though is pathetic. LBJ is a FA, and as a free agent he has every legal right to decide where he wants to play next.

This is the city that holds onto its past sports failures longer than any other city. What made Lebron think in any alternate bizarro world they would be cool with him laying them out there in his "Decision" like that? This is Cleveland we are talking about Lebron! The home of heart break in sports that surpasses even Houston and the Cubs. Very bad "decision".

That LeBron special was a live and televised cuckolding of the Cavs fans. All other teams in the running had nothing to lose but all to gain unlike the Cavs.

I know this has been discussed ad nauseum but they got Jamison because James wanted him...other free agents wisely didn't sign with the Cavs because Lebron would not commit.

Lebron played a part in the Cavs current sorry state. Even more reason for Cleveland fans to hate him.

Certainly, but the ownership/management made some big mistakes as well. For example, they gave Larry Hughes a very big contract which made things difficult for them.

That would be awesome. Lebron would get to actually point at Mo Williams as he's choking yet again in the playoffs and say "This is why I left. This was my #2 guy."
