Good to see the NFL do the right thing, I for one am surprised. Clearly they understand what they are dealing with in Finnebitch. Instead of just blanket suspensions that would just get Cortland what he wanted. Well played, NFL.
Surprised that both didnt get suspended, sets an interesting precedent. No complaints here though as a Titans fan, I know Finnegan "instigated" it, but don't think AJ should get a free pass either.
I am frankly amazed that both were not suspended. I am even more amazed that Finnegan's penalty wasn't greater than Andre Johnson's.
"Finnegan set off the brawl by pushing up Johnson's face mask at the line of scrimmage. Johnson ripped off Finnegan's helmet and landed at least two punches to Finnegan's head and neck. Finnegan tore off Johnson's helmet before players and referees intervened. Both players were ejected from the game following the incident." http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=5864038
The Next Texans Titans game is gonna be FUN!!! It is in Nashville too . . . I figure Finnegan will try for some pay back Rocket River
good to see no suspensions. but only 25k? unreal, mainly because some of the helmet to helmet hits warrants 50k first offense. i think finnegan should have been fined more than johnson, based on past incidents and his rep, like 2nd/3rd time offenders of illegal hits get people fined more. but i figured both would be fined more.
At the start of the play, Finnegan "pushed up" Johnsons face mask, they scuffle, Johnson takes off Finnegans helmet, Finnegan then takes off Johnsons, and then Johnson beats him down.
oh, come on now. there is footage of this all over the place. that's a "push", and I was born on Mars. It's good that they were given the same penalty (imo) and that AJ didn't get a free pass, but to p***y-foot around Finnegan's aggressiveness here is just as cheap as he is. "pushed". gimme a freaking break.
he threw a punch at AJ before ripping his helmet off. Watch the video again. :03 second mark. <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/vL-TcNachRc?fs=1&hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/vL-TcNachRc?fs=1&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
oh, I saw it. still can't let this "he pushed his face mask" bs go uncorrected. He slammed both palms into AJ's neck. And he got the beatdown he deserved.
Oh, I see the punch you are talking about. It goes pretty quick and grazes the side of AJ's helmet, but definitely a punch. Good eye.
While I am happy Andre finally laid the smack down on him, doesn't this mean that Cortland did his job? This was his goal, and I'm sure the coach and whatnot were pleased with his results.
Doesn't really make sense to get Andre and yourself ejected. I highly doubt they coaches had this outcome in mind.
I doubt these two will tussle in the next game, but there is going to be a lot of ugly business going on Nashville (besides the normal ugly business of crystal meth and inbreeding).
