Link says Finnegan struck first seconds after the ball was snapped. No. He struck first WHEN the ball was snapped. Seconds later he was cowering on the ground getting his face pounded. Saying it took seconds for Finnegan to strike diminishes how quickly he started the fight.
Woot! Great news Andre has been a class act his entire career and well, Finnegan is a classless punk. I hope this never happens again and Dre just burns him with TDs like he normally does.
Methinks the ratings consequences for the NFL Network-aired game this Thursday night may have had something to do with the disciplinary decision. I don't think the NFL got it right. That said, good for the Texans and good for AJ! Beat that little she-dog down into her place, and only a fine to show for it. Nice!
Yup, the league most certianly looked at all the facts, the tape and took the player's histories into account.
My respect for Roger Goodell, which had been almost none, just rose exponentially. Props to the NFL for resisting the urge to grandstand and instead doing the right thing.
Or could it have been: Andre (good guy) + Innegan (bad guy) + Premeditation on Innegan's part + 3 infractions for Innegan already this season = Maybe Johnson doesn't deserve the full letter of the law.
I'm listening to the Rome show right now and he is interviewing Antrele Rolle. He asked Rolle what he thought of Andre going off since they were teammates at the U. Antrele said that Cortland had that coming to him and he's glad that Andre did what did. He said Cortland is like a little Chihuahua coming after a Pit Bull and he got what he deserved. Classic.
Yeah, that was awesome. Was going to come post about it after leaving my car. Let's go through a checklist: - Finnegan looks like a *****. - AJ beat the F out of Innegan. - AJ doesn't get suspended. SOUNDS GOOD TO ME!
wow...i'm glad he's not suspended, but honestly, am surprised...I'm glad the NFL took everything into account and AJ is available for the Eagles...they'll need all their weapons... on a side note, AJ is probably wishing he would have landed more but I'm sure he's glad he was able to finally hit this douche w/o any consequences, sans a fine...As for Finnadouche, i bet he's pissed b/c a suspension was exactly what he was looking for...
I don't see how its a money issue. Tickets are already sold. Networks already have the rights. Commercial time is already paid for. I don't think next year or whenever they renew rights they will point to the game that they suspended Andre for and say "you cost me money."
Ratings speak very, very loudly. That said, perhaps I am overplaying the case. Who outside of Houston gives a rat's behind whether the Texans are playing and plan to watch in the first place?
But for an ongoing series of games over the months of November and December I don't think it makes a difference. Nobody will point to a single game out of 8 or whatever and say that was a problem. Now, a Super Bowl single event type situation makes a big difference sure.
